Personally I don't want Dyche or pretty much any of the others the bookies are touting, but at the end of the day I do trust CPFC2010 to do the right thing and will support their choice.

However, I was reading an article about Dyche allegedly wanting the Palace job and got to thinking about how things might end for him if he doesn't get it. I can't imagine the Burnley fans would be too chuffed to know that their manager wants away. So if he doesn't get the Palace job would Burnley sack him anyway given that he's seemingly no longer loyal to their cause? Just a thought.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

I'd be happy with Dyche. The main reason being that I think he would stay with us for a few years and try and build something. All these up and coming foreign managers are all very well, but would use us as a stepping stone and unlikely to stay long term. I've no doubt Dyche could establish us as a mid table team. After that, who knows.

A few on here and on the Burnley forum moaning about how negative Dyche is with his tactics. Has anyone thought that his reasoning for this is due to having a very average squad with Burnley therefore playing to the strengths that Burnley have and making it all about not conceding due to the lack of flair players they have??

No disrespect to Burnley but they don't have Benteke, Zaha And Townsend. Would be interesting to see how he does with some flair in his team.

They weren't negative in the Championship. I also think you are right about why they played that way this season.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

First half of the 2015/16 Championship-winning season, Dyche was too negative away from home and we were 5th at the halfway stage and way behind the top two Boro & Derby.

But from January onwards, Dyche attacked more away from home and we had 8 away wins and 4 draws from 12 matches.

Only 3 away wins before Christmas.

Honestly, any talk on here about us needing to get the 'right' manager for the 'long term' is IMHO just a tad precious. Surely, with Sam leaving, Palace's priority must be to stay another season in the top flight. If that is the goal, then that determines who our next manager should be. I ranted about Hodgson as much as anyone in the Euros, but for the above reason, I think he'd be the best bet. As far as long term managers are concerned, I think we need to baton down the hatches and live to fight another day. Roy's credentials are top draw. He'd bring stability and solidarity for the short term, should be good at securing transfer targets, and he'll manage players and staff well. But this is just my opinion - I am not fully in the know as SP & Co, and I'd trust SP's ultimate decision.

Yes, but Pardew took his eye off the ball when it came to defensive duties and fitness and wasn't concerned about conceding goals. That was the management of the madhouse and Burnley would be desperately unlucky to find another one in that mold.

Like when he said he wasn't bothered about clean sheets!

Should have been sacked the minute he said that.

I think his card was well and truly marked when he did

Key word, liked. That's where it all goes downhill for coaches when they step into management.

Meaningless remark based on no evidence whatsoever.

I think you'll find that the reference was to the perennial difficulty when promoted from popular supervisor to senior manager. In the latter position you inevitably have to make unpopular decisions which can be difficult for some who thought you were their 'mate'.

I also think this may have been a reason behind Mandanda wanting to leave.

I doubt it's the whole reason, but it's certainly not something you'd want to hear as a keeper

The worst thing would be "We want to keep clean sheets in every game and Sakho is injured"
