How will the remoaners feel if we get to the last minute and the EU cave in and give us a better deal than what May has offered?

So where are we this morning I will stick my neck out again and make some predictions.

Our fate now lies in the hands of the EU which if you are a Brexiteer is quite ironic.

Parliament has shown there is no majority for any of the options. Even if one of the indicative votes had just passed it is a foundation of sand.

Yesterday a Labour MP on the radio cheerfully said she would vote for the customs union not because she believed in it but she felt this would split the Tory party. When pressed she suggested that if that passed she probably would vote against it at a later date. In other words she was playing politics.

Meanwhile a Tory MP who had voted against Mrs May's deal twice then voted for it on the third occasion apologised to the house and said it was a mistake and he would vote against it if it came back.

So supposed one of the options was passed by less than 10 votes, the UK then goes to the EU and says we need an extension of at least a year whilst we agree the new deal. The EU will be thinking hang on how do we know that this will pass how many MPS will change their mind?

This is President Macrons concern that Brexit will continue to dominate the EU agenda but that when it comes to the legislative votes (there will be several) it may not pass. He is publicly saying enough is enough time for the EU to move on.

There is one slim hope, rumours are that Merkel is now asking the Irish to compromise over the back stop to throw Mrs May a bone, this is why Sinn Fein was invited to Brussels the other day.

Mrs May's options are limited, a GE requires the support of two thirds of MPS. Brexit MPS will not vote for this nor will any MP who feels they may lose their seat.

So like it or not the EU may sit back and do nothing which means we leave April 12 or the EU will throw us a lifeline either way I think the next move is theirs.

As a Brexiteer I am hoping that the EU say time to move on have a nice life.

Having read May’s deal (I have insomnia) and the relevant portions of the Good Friday peace agreement it seems to me that Brexit simply can’t happen without a separate agreement with Ireland that would protect the open border stipulation of Good Friday. Why nobody called George Mitchell, who lives a rather active life in retirement and brokered Good Friday, is beyond me. Certainly he could have crafted treaty language that would satisfy a proper Brexit while protecting the peace in Ulster. Since no side seems to know what they are doing, the only alternative now is to go back to the people and have another referendum. The Government is out of ideas as is Corbyn’s feckless leadership. Commons is hopelessly deadlocked. It’s time for the UK’s electorate to re-instruct its elected representatives. The only other option is to have John Bercow stage a coup from the Speaker’s Chair, which I suspect has crossed his Gooner-addled mind.

Adding on: One more thought. It also seems that the strongest leader the Tories have is not even an MP but an MEP, Ruth Davidson. She led them to an unprecedented seat gain in the last General Election, which made May’s return to Number 10 possible. The English Tories are stuck with a bunch of grey Major types at the moment. Perhaps find her a safe seat to slide into and finagling a leadership run, as only the Tories can do, would rescue some semblance of honour from the depths of utter chaotic humiliation.

She'd be mad - and on maternity leave, this lot seem unleadable at the moment - Ruth's time will come I'm sure.

What Parliament needs to do is go whipless for a wee while and allow MPs to vote freely, the Whips offices are running this and a few rebels don't make up enough of a difference. And MP's resigning because others won't compromise is amusing.

"I didn't get my way because you didn't compromise so I resign".... I bet he doesn't give up his seat and force a by election though.

At the present time it is the EU that are in the driving seat.

Who knows what the 27 leaders will do in conclave. Will they agree an extension? If so, for how long and on what conditions? Every country has to agree to any extension and the UK will have to accept this extension.Theresa May could refuse this extension which could mean a 'No Deal', on the other hand if she agrees to a long extension she could face a Cabinet revolt.

She should read this thread for advice. As should the EU leaders but with a few notable exceptions they may not like much of it.

Not to get into semantics but somebody tells you everything you know. You then select what you choose to believe.
