Comments should be directed at those who took up positions based on clearly established misinformation such as the vaccines stopped transmission. But then we only get excuses.

Let’s try to put to bed this nonsense about the claims that the Covid vaccines stopped transmission somehow being relevant to this debate. Such claims were made. Some may have been too enthusiastic in order to encourage take up but the simple fact is that it’s true. The vaccines do stop transmissions. Anything, vaccination or prior infection, that induces greater immunity must stop transmissions. Not all transmissions but enough to make a difference. That’s partly the point of creating an immune system response. That effect was greater with the original virus but as the variants took over it diminished, exactly as was expected. Nevertheless, and again as expected, the vaccines continued to protect against severe disease even if less infective at stopping infection. Lighter symptoms, lower transmission. This was all expected. Just as the flu throws up new variants which demand tailored vaccines in response each year, so it seems will Covid. You can read more on this here:- Rather worryingly my wife advised me that she has been officially advised that the hospital has seen a surge in Covid related admissions recently which at this time of year is causing them concerns. It’s not yet being publicly announced for fear of creating more problems than that would solve. Whether this is just a local issue and related in some way to the large number of visitors currently here is unknown.

The total number of hospitalisations from the entire country both pre- and post vaccination was less than a million.Now you're suggesting twice that figure from a small section of the population.

Bidens claims were false, misleading and disinformation. Potentially dangerous to people who were under the impression that the vaccine was safe and if they took it they would not get covid.
