I wouldn't change the manager now, too much risk for me. If we survive this year, a big if for me, then the Summer window represents a huge risk for the club where retention decisions and recruitment decisions need to be spot on. The team will have to be transformed over a couple of years I assume. Opinion really is about the scale of that risk and whether changing the manager will increase or reduce that risk.

For me, Roy probably isn't the man to take us forward. We need a new manager with a record for building a team and somebody who can attract some talent to the club. On balance I don't think changing the manager at the end of the season adds to the risk we face or reduces it much either.

When you say if we survive, do you mean us the fans re virus or are you talking demotion? Either way, put you hat coat and scarf on and get out for a good walk. And let’s hope a tree doesn’t fall on you in the wind. Brighten up pal.

And that seems very reasonable. The question has always been: 'Does RH do enough with the resources at his disposal?' If we take the view of the ghastly Souness that 'survival every season is a triumph for Palace' then the sort of football the players serve up while he is manager might be excused, but how depressing! My local team, Hungerford F.C., plays in NL South. Three seasons ago, it needed to win the last game of the season to stay up. It did. Two seasons ago it needed to draw the last game of the season to stay up. It did. That's what you call progress! Last season it would have been relegated by a country mile but for the cancellation of the season. So: 'Just survive?' Not a bit of it. New Chairman, new young manager, five players retained, eighteen new players shipped in and all on the smallest budget in the league: an unbelievable £100,000. Currently fourth in the table. Of course we are not comparing like with like, but frankly, that sort of effort puts us to shame. The 'Be Careful What You Wish For Brigade' deserves the sort of football Palace serves up at the moment. For heaven's sake: the manager is 73! How many more seasons do you want from the man? Sure, he did a brilliant job, keeping us up after de Boer's departure. He doesn't do it for charity! It's a results-driven business indeed. If the punters don't like the football that's being served up, they've a right to say so. The point about football behind closed doors giving RH a stay of execution is well made.

I liked this post. Do you ever go and watch Hungerford? I love lower league. Real football

one simple thing to point out about Roy's rigidity is that ALL good sides these days can play three at the back, a back four may be plan A, but they are just as comfortable with three, in the prem from Liverpool and Leicester all the way down to Wolves, West Ham Southampton, the fact that Roy is quite literally incapable of playing three at the back illustrates his limitations, but the main problem is still the quality of the personnel more than how it is organised.

You see, it's hyperbole like this that annoys the rest of us. "the fact that Roy is quite literally incapable of playing three at the back". You have no idea of his capabilities. That is purely your own idea. And then you go on to say "the main problem is still the quality of the personnel more than how it is organised". Make your mind up. Is it the players that are the problem, so sack the manager, or is it the supposed lack of organisational skills from the manager, so sack him?

Either way, give us a few line-ups with a back three that would do better than we do. FdB tried it (with younger players), that didn't go well.

I respect Mr Hodgson for his managerial longevity, managing both at International and club level, and at some of the world's most famous clubs.
He is very much respected globally.

I am also very appreciative of the fact that he came to us when were not best placed and despite 7 straight defeats with 0 goals he took us up to 11th place in his first season and has kept us in the PL for 3 seasons with an ageing squad and on a minimum spend.

He deserves credit for what he has achieved before he joined our club and for his efforts whilst he has held the managerial 'Reins' at CPFC.

Remember that Wilf's return was at the same time. He deserves a lot of that credit.

Last ten league games
10pts
10 goals scored
20 goals conceded
On that basis the next 19 games will see us end up with 42 points - safe.
19 more goals scored
38 more conceded.
I do accept that the Liverpool score was a real one off - however - we are poor and play without a real plan and some will say safety is good enough - not for me though but Roy will have fulfilled the job description.
Me - I hope he goes soon and that Eddie Howe comes in.

I honestly don't get the fascination with Eddie Howe. Yes he plays pretty football, but if Bournemouth (and Burnley) are anything to go by, he struggles to organise a defence at this level - which is a major area we need overhauling.

I would like to see us with 16th highest wages in league and a squad equating to 15th in the league and I want to see us finish above 12th each season, or at least getting to 40 points in record time each year. That to me is progress.
I want to see a youngster introduced each season, pushing for a start.

I want to see one player sold on every two years making a profit.

We should not be held hostage by the league.. I want us if anything to be utilizing it and exploiting it.

I want us to be known as an exciting prem club where players come to us as a stepping stone.

If palace is a gate way club, so be it. I don't want us to be the opposite, a journeyman club where we can't shift expensive players that no one will want.

Each new season should be exciting, see what we have to offer and a few scalps and a fun cup run.

Champ players should be jumping at the opportunity to play for us.

That's the feel I want for the club.
