I agree with a lot of what’s been said. Self entitled, having a Cheek (I wish we had him), all about them etc. They could’ve just waited for the main stand to go up when there’s more options for fans behind the goal to move elsewhere so where the safe standing is going the HF can stand. But no, their immaturity takes over. But then I start thinking maybe they’re going elsewhere in the ground or indeed nowhere in the ground for a season or 2 so that if the atmosphere is pretty low Parish and others will be desperate to see them back. I’ll miss some of what they bring but I won’t miss the drum or the constant singing and jumping up and down from 20 lads to a song nobody else knows, and that would either go on for the first 20 minutes or when the game is looking lost. There’s enough people and enough song starters like how we used to do it to create an atmosphere without them so I doubt they’ll be that missed and they should really get over themselves. But this is young people today. Very thin skinned, sensitive and believe their lives are followed closely by the outside world when really people mainly don’t care. Or do all young people closely care what the 700 people they follow are doing? No more drum. Fvcking get in!!!!! The above was your first post on this thread in July. You seem to have changed your view considerably since then

He is adamant the team needs the support and noise created by the HF referring back to times where support of the crowd makes a difference. More importantly he muted something might be on the horizon. From what I have seen over the season so far we the crowd have a responsibilty to our team to help them as we have demonstrated over many season prior. Noise = Energy = Improved Performance. This is again an opion dressed up as a fact. In truth I dont agree with Neil Shipperley. Is that allowed? What with him being famous and an ex player and me just a fan?

Or does everyone have to as stubborn as possible on this? I changed my mind on 1) the atmosphere after witnessing Liverpool and Southampton (Newcastle has been just as bad. Worse if you consider we didn’t concede and it was a game a bit of extra support could’ve made a difference except at corners) And the missing of the HF and the rest making up for it. Away games are now apparently sinking too. 2) The HF’s approach to the whole saga when it finally came out how badly it was handled by the club and the communication the HF thought was coming with all fans of Palace fans didn’t happen. We then get their literature which wasn’t given a chance either. This isn’t North v South. I changed my mind? So what? Some maybe should too, or will when it happens, which is the rumour and of course what Parish actually wants if it came with nobody being put out. He may do that anyway.

Well done for changing your mind and seeing the harsh reality of the lack of HF.

Last season with the HF at this stage P6 L6 NO Goals and N0 points and rock bottom of the table. This season without the HF P6 W2 D1 four goals and seven points and 11th in the table. Get some perspective for goodness sake.

Dare I suggest that if support does make such a difference, why has our home form been poor for many seasons?

That dreadful game we saw on Saturday would've been a lot more interesting had people in Block C around me actually bother to try and make noise (yes I did try). @Rudi: Away games have still been solid wherever I've been stood tbf (went Watford and Hudders). What if everyone on Holmesdale online made a pledge that at a pre-arranged time they would all stand up - wherever they are - and get a chant going? If everyone had the confidence that they wouldn't be doing it alone, that would be encouraging. for example, the first time Palace win a corner, everyone from this forum (I'm not sure how many people that is) should leap out their seat - no mater where they sit in the ground - and chant: "oooh, it's a corner." Atmosphere on Saturday reminded me of the dire days in the late 90's and early 00's. My wife who comes once every couple of years when my mate can't make it asked me what had happened to all the noise (the part she likes the best). The team showed a distinct lack of urgency in the second half too and these things must be related - i'd come to think that we didn't only sing when the team was playing well so the onus must be on us. Whatever happened with the HF it has left everyone worse off. As someone mentioned above it doesn't necessarily guarantee points but it helps with our identity and the players see it as a positive. This needs to be addressed. Our club identity needs it and we need every advantage we can get. For the first time in years I'd say that we were outsung by the away fans.
You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue |
