I have been the MD of two UK subsidiaries of well known international businesses, whose names and products will be known to you. In fact, you may well have some of those products in your cupboard right now. You can add to that my ownership of two businesses of my own and the employment that gave, and still gives, to many people. I have been the President of a national trade association. Congratulations on what appears to be a very successful career.

Nearly one week on from election, highlights of the denial so far include - - Rudy Giuliani accidentally booking Four Seasons - Total Landscaping for a press conference (thinking it was Four Seasons hotel), to bring out a convicted child sex offender Daryl Brooks to testify to seeing illegal activity at one of the counts (interesting to see QAnon silent on this...). - Steven Crowder telling his audience about a suspicious white van delivering a package of illegal ballots to a counting centre, for it to then come out that it was a film crew using a wagon to move their camera. - Trump supporters in two different states chanting 'Stop the Count' and 'Count the votes' at the same time depending on Trump being in front or behind in the count. - Tucker Carlson claiming that the left will mandate everyone to drink Starbucks coffee and they won't be able to drink from their local corner shop coffee anymore. To be fair, their is a whole page in the communist manifesto dedicated to corporate coffee juggernauts. It's truly depressing seeing the options America were given at this election, but seeing the man who claimed the vote was rigged when he didn't win an Emmy for The Apprentice reaching for the same playbook, having a mild breakdown and refusing to concede does soften the blow somewhat. Let's hope that Biden does something for working class people of America like a minimum wage otherwise I fear for who the next Trump wannabee will be in four years. Time will tell. Edited by SavoyTruffle (11 Nov 2020 12.56pm) Yeah, because reading posts like yours that take the p1ss out of them is really going to endear them to your side of politics.....about as realistic as your grasp of economies. The left have spent four years screaming over Trump, saying he was illegitimate and now, all of a sudden it's take the p1ss when they get it back. But carry on, that kind of smug, arrogant above it all manner plays really well.

The truth about the election will probably never be told. But the voting discrepancies certainly can. Miss Jocelyn Knockersbury, a hot Trump intern, and Monica Lewinsky double, inadvertently typed a comma in the republican vote tally instead of a decimal point. So it should read 7 hundred and not 700 millions. An obvious typo as nobody would ever believe that 700 million people voted for a slob like Trump. I'm glad that clears that up.

Edited by SavoyTruffle (11 Nov 2020 12.56pm) Watching the car crash of team Trump's reaction to the result cannot help but amuse but just behind that is the sad realisation that they really believe this stuff. Just as they have all their nonsense in the past 4 years and indeed in the run up to the 2016 election. There is a lot of repair work needed. Let's hope Biden can stabilise things and then build a platform upon which those repairs can grow. We ought not expect too much. Just dealing with the pandemic will be enough in the first few months. The idea that the left, who are a non-force in US politics, have played a role is quite funny too, as is the suggestion that those who did oppose him "screamed he was illegitimate". No-one considered him illegitimate. He won in 2016, albeit with assistance from illegitimate sources. What people thought was that he was a disastrous choice that reflected badly on the US system and it's ability to pick wisely, alongside the concerns that the security services have not yet found the way to control outside interference, whilst preserving free speech. A problem which affects us just as seriously. Hopefully, that is something that the US security forces, now free of the suspicions at the top, can begin to grapple with, working alongside ourselves, other members of the 5 eyes and the big social media platforms. Twitter's recent treatment of Trump is a reassuring start and whether his account survives long after Jan 20 2021 will be interesting to observe.

My post is just stating things that have happened over the last week... I'm taking the mick out of the right wing talking heads who are doing the exact same thing they complained the democratic establishment did for the last four years. Hilary couldn't face the fact she ran a terrible campaign and lost to a bad candidate, Trump and the people that surround him are doing the exact same now. If you were to look back at any of my posts re: Russia you will see I always thought it was a way for the democrats to save face, the same is happening now with the GOP. I'm not trying to endear myself to anyone, you don't win voters by being nice as Trump showed. You win people with policy, politics should be fought in the trenches (metaphorically of course). Plus last time I checked I'm not a Democratic campaign strategist so my posts on HOL are irrelevant. Ironic though that if this is your view point and you wish to endear yourself, you end that paragraph with an insult on my economic literacy despite having no knowledge of it... I'm not being smug just soaking in the hilarity of those moments, which you've conveniently ignored in favour of clutching at your pearls. I don't remember the same pearl clutching when people were doing victory laps in December last year after a Tory landslide, quite the opposite. The fact is, despite Biden offering no credible vision, overwhelmingly independents and typical non voters came out to vote out Trump because they saw through his act, there is hope in that. However there is very little to celebrate following this election because Trump still solidified and increased his base. Trump was defeated but the ideology was not, that's why if in four years time, if the Dems don't offer a credible alternative that speaks to his base through policy, they will lose to a Tucker Carlson style candidate.

There's some good points in your reply but I think your mockery shows the reality of the two Americas that now exist....you're right that it would be have been no better on the other foot.....but then again, I'm not the person thinking Democratic 'policy' will draw people away from republicans.....I think you will get the opposite reaction....Anyone with sense knows that if Biden keeps his promises he is going to raise taxes on the middle class....there is no 'healing', the Democrats have no legitimacy in even asking for that after how they have behaved these last four years...they will reap what they sowed. Modern Democratic policy is economic ruin, especially the 'woke' lot....which is most of the party. I will say that Trump was also spending like mad but the difference was he was creating jobs and increasing GDP to keep pace. Trump was a businessman first and foremost, he didn't let idealism get in the way of that....unfortunately the Democrats are all about idealism before pragmatism. The Democrats are going to increase spending even more but unlike Trump we are not going to see the same levels of economic upturns.....the berk is even talking about lockdowns.
