OK, so you are taking me to task on how I interpreted the investigation. When I said "only look for Russian collusion in the election" my point was it was the "main" reason it was set up in the first place. Of course the investigation was allowed to look into other matters as a by-product of this. You can nitpick my phrasing but I think you know what I was trying to say. They got Manafort for bank and tax fraud but the goal has always been to nail Trump and so far nothing... It is pretty conclusive that Don Jnr's meeting was not illegal and you've admitted so but are trying to come up with possible illegal scenarios, ha! As far as I'm aware, there was no payments made. You are naive to suggest politicians never try and get dirt on political opponents as it's been going on for years. My Clinton and Obama examples were not justifying that Trump shouldn't be investigated, because both were investigated, or comparing moral standards, but the precedent those two set in terms of potential punishment if Trump is found guilty. Edited by Penge Eagle (23 Aug 2018 1.10pm) If you want to say it is not picky, I’m ok with that. But the distinction is important in this case, which is why I pointed it out. As for Don Jr., we don’t know if it was legal or illegal as we don’t know the full details of the meeting. It really depends on what they requested or accepted from the foreign agents (Russians). Simply meeting someone was not illegal, but seeking to gain something of value in that meeting was. That is why the Republican and Democrat opponents of Trump used a third party to do their digging. It might amount to the same thing in the end, but it is a legal nicety to meet the letter of the law. As for consequences and the length of the current investigation, Clinton was under investigation for years (1992-1998 (?)) by Starr, so the current investigation is hardly prolonged in comparison. That being said, all the key players in Whitewater, bar the Clintons, ended up with felony convictions. I can’t speak to the Obama thing you are sliding to as I have not read much about it. The same can be said of Nixon, as almost everyone else ended up in jail. Personally, a plague on all their houses and they should be held to account in the same way as their minions were. I should make it clear, I am not a fan of impeachment as I think things should be decided at the ballot box. Of course, if Trump actively engaged and cooperated with the Russians to win the election then he should be impeached and prosecuted. It is a big if, but it is crucial to know given the ongoing attacks on elections in a number of western democracies.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

What's not been widely reported is that she also met with Glenn Simpson before and after this. Simpson is one of the founders of Fusion GPS, which was the opposition research company who compiled the anti-Trump dossier for Hillary's presidential campaign. The Steele dossier was compiled using the spy's Russian connections. Russian collusion per chance?

Wall Street record high again. Still remembering how the left predicted that Trump would tank the economy.

(And aside from the US consumer, there are also a lot of companies that are going deeper and deeper into debt).

As we know none of that has anything to do with the Trump presidency. If Trump stays free of wars he has a good chance of delaying the inevitable 'bust' part of the cycle.

Negative outcomes are the result of negative initial inputs like poverty, exposure to significant violence and lack of education and stability. You can never get rid of them but only reduce them via societies becoming wealthier....as reducing want also reduces the amount of disfigurement in its pursuit. To this regard Trump is doing better than Obama for example.....Human advances in technology has reduced suffering around the world as UN statistics reveal...Perhaps you should read Pinker's latest book. As you appear to obviously have contempt for humans may I make the suggestion that you break free from these bonds and perhaps try living with a troop of baboons. A sudden connection with nature 'red in tooth and claw' may actually help with an appreciation for the west's small mercies. Edited by Stirlingsays (26 Aug 2018 11.29am)

Human Nature is what we chose to make it. Not what you consider the norm. Would you consider Obama more of a humanitarian than Trump, I would. Trump has manipulated the system, even been bankrupt I believe, more than once. It is that you think that following the path of greed and avarice is acceptable, that saddens me Your second last paragraph aptly describes our present situation. The pack mentality is not my choice of company. I think I will be a penguin instead. dad penguin actually looks after the egg and the hatchling while Mum goes out shopping for fish.

Base your opinions on what science tells us and the broad consensus in the scientific community on nature/nurture has long consigned the social constructionist argument to the harmful dustbin where it deserves to be. Trump has manipulated the system, even been bankrupt I believe, more than once. So what? Those are non points....Lots of successful businessmen went bankrupt.....As for manipulating the system....you do that everytime you take a painkiller. What matters most is the end result. You are an ape not a bird. God save the west from soy boys. I hope you find a big strong woman to save you from yourself.......though most strong woman are actually attracted to masculinity rather than attempts at female imitation.

The humanitarian who gave the go-ahead to drop bombs in Iraq, Afghanistan, pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and Syria. Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia make up half the world’s refugees, at 4.9 million, 2.7 million and 1.1 million, respectively. The humanitarian who put kids in cages after separating them from their families while crossing the US border. That guy? Edited by Penge Eagle (26 Aug 2018 12.36pm)
