So basically when we go back down to the championship we’ll be no better off as a club than when we went up. What a joke ‘’Best ever Palace chairman. X seasons in the premier league. What if the sun doesn’t come up tomorrow?’ I think that’s how it went and what Parish tweeted about himself. Edited by Rudi Hedman (22 Nov 2018 8.25am)

I thought the £100m was what it cost to buy their way into the club? Harris and Blitzer purchased 18 per cent of the club each, with Steve Parish reducing his shareholding from 25% to 18% so between the three they own 54% of the club Steve Browett, Martin Long and Jeremy Hosking all reduced their shareholding. Although I'm not sure the relevance of your answer to the question you were answering I doubt whether anyone knows the exact shareholding as the ultimate parent company is registered in Delaware which allows shareholdings to be hidden

I thought the £100m was what it cost to buy their way into the club? It's never appeared in the clubs accounts (that can be accessed), but then no company would leave that sort of sum sitting around doing nothing. My guess would be that the US investors money was to buy out (reduce) the percentage of the club owned by the original four. As ME has pointed out earlier, the £100m may well be by way of an undertaking to provide funds for a new stand. As he also just said, we don't know how the ultimate holding company is structured...smoke and mirrors indeed!
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

You've got some funny ideas. Did the bank that you used to work for have it's ownership hidden too?

Did the bank that you used to work for have it's ownership hidden too? ME With respect, I have never been a member of the banking profession. Expanding on what I have already asserted, confidentiality and privacy can be vital in many legitimate business dealings that simply would not occur without strict confidentiality. I think this is becoming somewhat tangential to the subject matter of this thread ! Edited by Willo (22 Nov 2018 10.38am)

Privacy and confidentiality which plays a valid part in a competitive business environment. I am not sure I agree with that Willo. Public companies should be just that. All shareholdings should be available for scrutiny. I don't agree that a company registered in the UK should be allowed to hide its ownership behind overseas shell corporations. I would remind you of the sting operation involving an ex England player who was advising undercover reporters posing as a far eastern investors. The player explained that you could hide multiple holdings in EFL football clubs behind shell corporations. Owning more than one club in the UK of course is against football rules. The program explained that at that time that the majority of Championship clubs had shell corporation owners and that the EFL could not say for certain who the real owners were. So much for due diligence, I hope that today the situation has improved. Then of course there is the old favourite of tax dodging. I am not suggesting anything like this is happening at Palace I am just stating that secrecy leads to abuse. Did you know that in Norway everybody's tax filings are open to the public?

Indeed I have been aware of the transparency in Norway in respect of tax-returns.
