Could you imagine David Cameron stating it is his personal opinion that capital punishment should be brought back or Nick Clegg saying he disagrees with gay marriage but both saying hey will follow party policy? No. I actually agree with you last paragraph. We do need to have a debate in this country about economic policies because the way things are, the NHS and the wider welfare bill, particularly pensions, are reaching tipping point because of a growing and ageing population. Our welfare policy is stuck in the 1950s. No one in the mainstream parties has had the balls to face up to this. I believe that we will have to look at all options available to the country to pay for this in the coming years and whether people like it or not, private health insurance will be one of those options. I am not saying I am supporting this or not before the usual suspects say that I am looking to marginalise the poor and send parts of the country back to living standards described in a typical Dickens novel. However, it is something that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.
