Wilf returning with his tail between his legs. If he wants a return he can compromise somehow on his wage.

Re signing Wilf is a judgement call, but I'm quite surprised by the level of disrespect for him on this thread. Sure, he isn't a perfect human being, but the man has arguably done more for this club than any other player.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

It makes sense for Leicester (not sure from a financial standpoint). Makes no sense for us. I don't want to see him against us (which was why Galatasaray was perfect), but I also wish him the best.

He has been one of the greatest players the club has had As I see it: Consequently, I ask myself these questions - Is Wilf really capable of being a 100% team player? I have serious doubts about the answer to any of them being 'yes'. There's a reason Gala want to offload him and they play in a lesser league than Palace.

It depends I guess on how much Palace want to come back in and outbid Leicester? He's been a great player for palace, our best player, ever, but time to move on

Wages are just too high....I don't think Zaha wanted to come here anyway but I'm not that bothered if those contract details are correct.

What I recall from last year's discussions his wages should have been at 72K at Gala by contract and some posters praised him for his modesty to accept reduced wages for playing in Europe, but I may be wrong. Edited by Hannes (10 Aug 2024 12.31am)

My 10p worth… He is without doubt a club legend and also without him we would never be where we are now because as we would have been relegated long ago. Wilf is 31 not 61. 31 these days is probably similar to a 28 year old 10 / 15 years ago. He was always fit and recovered from injury pretty quickly. Considering how much he was chopped down it’s amazing that he got up and never really had a serious injury. He played under a manager in Roy that as good as he was to keep us stable and in the premier league was gave us the most dire football ever, it really was the polar opposite to OG. Yes Wilf got the hump and moaned but Christ, I would have moaned and despaired playing that way with that talent. Let’s be honest we cleaned up financially with Olise and will likely clean up with MG. Spending a little bit of that on a known quantity in Wilf for a season or 2, seems like no brainier to me. Imagine if it works and Wilf, having sorted his dream of playing in the champions league and now in a team of technically sound and forward thinking players comes to life. He terrified defenders on his own, imagine him now with the likes of Wharton, Munoz and the all new all scoring JPM. Absolutely a yes from me. He is Palace through and through.
