No, it’s the players. Despite their experience and skill, the fear of defeat is greater than their desire to win. For phuck sake run at the opponents not run it back across your defensive line. And what was Pickford doing coming to the half way line to take a free kick only to pass it 5 yards to Walker to kick it out of play?! What you are saying here in the first part is what attitude the players should have and that is entirely under the direction of the manager. The players in the England team are more than capable of winning the tournament.

TAA? I meant the whole team but, yes, he was particularly bad as was Rice. I wonder if it's too late for Rice to change his preferred nationality again.

Most of us know GS is a useless tactician, but can someone please explain the lethargy of the England team? They look knackered. On the rare occasins England speed up they can look effective. Also and this is so basic I can't believe I'm saying it, the vast majority of England's passes are right at the player, instead of being where the player can run on to it. No fluidity. Anyone else notice this?

Guehi was England's best player. Andersen good for Denmark too. Unfortunately Eze looked lost. Not sure what was going on there.

Cant believe Southgate saying TAA plays in the middle because we have nobody else , that Foden plays left because we have nobody else , that Trippier plays left back ect ect .Who picks the squad ,who picks the team ? The TAA experiment should be consigned to the bin Boring Boring England

Awful pitch for a major competition, still same for both sides. Guehi the pick, otherwise it was not a good look. The looked well knackered at the end, too. Top of the group on 4 pts.

Our midfield was near absent today. The ball kept going loose in the middle and there was never anybody from our side near it. As a result, there was no flow through our team, we only ever got forward when somebody charged solitary with the ball. Eze, Foden, Saka, Bowen, Kane, Watkins, Bellingham. All these players will look quite uninspired and ordinary if we have no plan to move the ball forward and rely upon them to single-handedly create something in the inevitable tactical vacuum. Southgate is not a football manager.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

A dreadful, lacklustre, lethargic performance from England. They looked totally devoid of any organisation and ideas.A dearth of movement, surrendering possession, players not playing in their best positions.

Southgate is not a football manager. I thought Eze was largely playing left inside forward for us under Glasner - that was what I presumed he was picked for. Maybe I'm wrong as I obviously don't have our tactical plan. He could be a roaming playmaker or something like that. I agree on the tactics unfortunately. I don't know where to start on that. The basics first and then work from there. Something I haven't seen mentioned is that it seems to me that literally everyone now plays with a back three. Then we keep on coming out and saying how hard it is to play against a back three. I would think that there are two options: two advanced up front - or play with a back three yourself if it's that effective.

England, the tournament favorites, marching on unbeaten! (Because not one of them seem to be able to run, let alone pass forward)

I wouldn't say they have performed well in a couple of tournaments , they performed OK , beat teams they were supposed to beat and didn't against anyone half decent . I would agree Southgate is not a football manager
