I don't expect you can see the irony in that statement.

I doubt they will hold back the tide much longer.

Europe is dying by its own hand.

Is merely an opinion. Doubtless shared by some in France.

Fortunately though not by enough to cause a problem at the moment and, hopefully, not ever.

That’s because it’s impossible to see anything that doesn’t exist!

I know. You prefer to see Europe over run by its enemies.

Really 'one nation' of you.

Really? You do it regularly.

That is what derangement is all about.

What is the definition of and the expected behaviour of governments as below.

Right, far right, left, far left or centre.
The descriptions are used everywhere on MSM and places like this and tbh the only one I can put an action to is far left linked to socialism.

I really feel that the actual reality needs to be stated again because some old minds just can't evolve to it.

National Rally received 37 percent of the votes.

Far higher than the next highest party of Macron at 26.

The behaviour of this coalition to keep out the most popular party allied to the worsening economic situation in France will only see their vote share rise in 2027.

Some people are stuck in the past and need to evolve.

You really have to question the wisdom of what Macron has done here. I know plenty on the British left will be celebrating another ganging up on the 'far right' in France to keep them out.....But they were the most popular party and in doing so they have vastly strengthened the 'far left'.

Indeed, the party with the most seats now is a Corbyn like figure who....for example...is far more skeptical on supporting Ukraine than National Rally were. They actively dislike the war and have economic policies that require much more spending....Strange as I though Ukraine was essentially an obsession with Macron.

I can't really see how France is going to govern properly as its power base is now essentially the far left and centralists......National Rally after being denied a just result won't be in a mood to help this coalition and will only benefit from this discordant mess Macron chose over them.

The party with the highest percentage of votes. Yet literally zero mention of that in any mainstream media coverage.

Astounding. Even for somebody as cynical as I am, this has come as a shock.

They are terrified of Le Pen. Her party DOUBLES the amount of seats in the French Parliament and are by almost a margin of 10% the winners of the highest amount of the vote and this is a defeat?

France is now screwed. It has a Left Wing alliance that is literally at complete odds with almost everything Macron needs to do.

Sit back in a deckchair and get out 'le pop-corn'. It's going to get wild!

Of course not!

Who are enemies are is where we differ.

I see them as those who seek to destroy our democracies and those who assist them, often by default. Probably you do too.

However, who they are is the difference. I see them as the autocratic regimes, assisted by the populists and those who support them. You see them as the migrants who arrive here to seek a better life. Who don’t seek to destroy something they come here to share.

You are scared of otherness and convinced that our culture can be erased.

I’m not. I’m sure our culture is strong and that all the future generations of new arrivals will eventually succumb to it. We just need to be welcoming and inclusive, not discouraged by refusal or failure, and determined rather than despondent.

It is my understanding that the reason the % are not being quoted is that the figures have not been officially released and what is being suggested are therefore estimates.

Let’s though assume they are broadly correct. To repeat, share % doesn’t equate to seats won. It doesn’t here and it doesn’t in France. Arguing that it should is perfectly reasonable, but right now it doesn’t. On seats won the RN came third. Even if a system was devised that allocated seats proportional to votes RN could not form a government without one of the others. How likely would that be? The second and third largest by vote share have more and would be more likely to cooperate with each other than with RN.

Yes, the leading party in the NFP is pretty left wing but they aren’t the only party. Macron will take his time, as he must as he will be flying to the USA tomorrow. No doubt the discussions between the various parties is already in process.

Are those what you call 'otherness'?

You are Cornwall's answer to Nero.
