A few years ago 45m would have been a fair price, but given Newcastle paid 50m+ for donkey boy Gordon we should at a minimum be asking for 60m. It is bonkers money, but that's where we're at now.

Normally, would agree, but this is far from a normal situation in view of the existence of a £35m release clause and it would appear,in order to keep City out of the picture,Chelsea are apparently willing to pay over the odds to acquire their man who even has again, apparently, agreed personal terms!!

A lot will depend on our finances and if we want to sell. (I have no idea if there is a release clause) Everyone has a price but it would make a massive statement if we just say no, we are not selling.

Yep I'd be inclined to say the same. They spent 90m on Mudryk ffs and I'd say Olise is the better prospect who has already started to prove himself in the prem. I wonder if we can get Madueke in as he's surely not going to get a look in at Chelsea but I'd doubt they'd let him depart permanently.

Makes you wonder why they need Olise.

When fit, with another season under his belt in a solid Premier team, he's worth £90m minimum.

While prices are clearly mad at the moment Olise is no where near the finished article, yet, his lack of goal scoring highlights this. What i can't understand is why we haven't been linked with more wingers this summer, knowing that Wilf was going and Olise had this clause. Traore from Wolves is going to Fulham! He would be ideal for us and yet we haven't even been linked with him. He is a free too - something SP usually likes - high wages, no transfer fee

Player would demand a massive signing on fee on top of the wages.

Still not his true value but £45m would be more palatable. I’m hoping CHO and maybe Hall loan is worked into the deal somehow. In reality deals are rarely combined

Saka is obviously ahead of Olise in output and development, but he is rated as one of the top 10/20 players in the world right now and would likely be in the 120m+ bracket in terms of fees. Olise is an assist machine and with a bit more confidence and experience the goals will come. Unless we're forced to let him go (due to contractual clauses) for 35/45m that price tag seems too low.
