I can never imagine Parish will re-hire Roy H.

in the last half dozen games, our confidence looked shot. We need a man-motivator. Somebody to make the troops hungry, angry and fired up for the fight.

Whether you agree about his sacking or not, the sands of time were running out and if it had to happen then now is the best time.

The new appointee will need time to gauge the strengths and weaknesses of the squad.

Whoever it is will surely recognise the talent of the team and work out the formation best suited to this talent.

Vieira's apparent lack of motivation and his seeming inability to find a solution to the lack of goals has cost him.

One person who will stand or fall by this decision is Steve Parish and the buck stops with him.

Does it though. Reading on here and BBS so many posters refuse to blame SP at all. He saved the club blah blah. Yes he and others did but the last 2 transfer windows have been awful. Perhaps he should stop chasing impossible targets (CG) to appease the boys and start listening to what the manager wants.

Freedman or Derry are not even a temporary answer.

Two who have failed at a lower level.

Yesterday I was saying that I thought we should stick with Vieira as the available options weren’t great. The fact that fans can suggest these two just confirms this.

We have made a decision and the next manager should be here next season, whatever division we are in. At the moment it looks like the board has panicked. If they were thinking about this before there should be a list of candidates and an appointment made within the next week.

A temporary manager until the end of the season will mean we waste all summer trying to get a new manager in, when we should be addressing the issue of squad recruitment, whatever division we are

If there was any justice, Freedman would also be sacked for his diabolical striker signings over the last 10 years. Problem is Parish was probably heavily involved in those as well so they both nervously muddle on together picking up dross everyone else wants to flick.

You can imagine other clubs in board meetings. “Our striker is terrible…what we gonna do? Call Dougie!!!” “He’ll buy him…”.

It doesn't matter who the Manager is or the coaches are if there are no leaders on the pitch. There hasn't been one since Mile Jedinak.
We are a 'flair' team (in theory). How many have the stomach for a relegation battle? We are about to find out.

Getting relegated hasn't done Burnley too much harm. Nor Fulham. Norwich? Point taken. But it wouldn't be the worst thing. We can rebuild from within, from the Academy. I have the feeling at the moment that we are a team that lacks identity.

The lack of striker signings gets thrown around a lot - Have any of the sides currently in the bottom 10 got a striker that is doing well at PL level? In fact, I'd argue there's only Toney, Ings (ish), Watkins and Mitrovic outside of the top 6. West Ham, Leeds, Wolves and others with £30m+ strikers not doing anything of note.

Sides get in the upper parts of the league by creating and taking chances as a collective. Hopefully we'll see the team push higher up the pitch and see Olise, Zaha, Eze start chipping in again.

Like Doucouré in his last couple of games? Good plan.
