Yes I want us to stay up and yes I do believe we will stay up. Maybe Dyche can breathe life into Everton but the other teams below us but Forest and Wolves plus the bottom 3 are all in negative goals and above -14, will they really pick up the points and the goals to stay up? My big worry is the financials, have we put away the money for rebuilding the main stand (I heard we had) and the loss while the rebuilding is going on and the the current inflation is also covered then great (I think that the lack of new players is the reason for that).
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

As an established PL outfit of the last 10 years we should have a strong enough and balanced squad by now to be protecting that revenue stream, how many championship sides would want to be in our position - all of them. In my view we should f*vk the new stand off for the time being and plough some of that money (assuming we have some) into sorting the squad out. The new stand can be done later and perhaps in stages so it at least looks like the club is moving Selhurst forward...but squad strength is what is required because without it we will end up back in the championship. Not happy, but I’d still be looking forward to next season come August if we did go down, because I’m a palace fan whether we’re playing Liverpool or Barnsley. Of course I’d love to stay in the premier league, spending money on top players, but it just gets a bit tedious fans who have no clue how our finances are and wouldn’t have any idea how to run a football club keep bleating on about us not being run properly or not spending enough money. At least if we did go down it would probably get rid of that lot

I don’t think we are at risk of relegation this season, I feel very confident about that. We experienced the same in 2021 when Patrick arrived and we recruited well. So if we do the same again this summer I’d be happy. The biggest worry is if there is no plan and we have no funds. If that’s the case then we are in trouble next season. Especially if wilf and McArthur (I know he has been injured in recent years but he has been a great player for us and offers a lot off the field as well) are not replaced I can handle relegation as a worst case scenario, but club financial turmoil is something we all hope is left in the past! Fresh start, get rid of the dead wood and the over paid, empty seats that were probably only occupied by glory hunters or tourists, hopefully an exciting promotion challenge ahead of us, there’s always a silver lining

If you want a laugh go to the Everton fans forum, typical scouse humour, they are not a happy bunch. The only signing they can look forward to is Andre Ayew on a free. Apparently they offered to take Sarr on loan until the end of the season, Watford just laughed. Having said all that Dyche is a good manager if he get can't a tune out of the current squad no one can. Edited by Badger11 (01 Feb 2023 9.02am)

The complacency and arrogance is stunning. Agree with all your points, but I wouldn't put accepting relegation (which I don't think will happen) down to complacency and arrogance based on the belief that we'll come straight back up. While I think the chances of relegation are slim and none, if we did go down I wouldn't be that bothered not because I think we'd be promoted the following year but because I simply wouldn't miss the cesspit of the PL. It's an awful league; utterly pointless. 14 clubs exist only to make up numbers so 6 or 7 "bigger" ones can generate additional revenues. I support and watch CPFC, not who we're playing. Put me in a competitive, honest, league where we have a chance of success (NOT guaranteed success) and I'll be happy watching football every week. Put me, for instance, watching Palace at Blackburn, Burnley, or Birmingham City; local teams whose supporters care about their clubs instead of being surrounded by plastics at the Etihad and you won't find me crying. I've seen Palace in Division 3, Division 2, Division 1, and the PL. This s***ty, money-obsessed, selfish, plastic excuse for a league we're in now is by far the least pleasurable I've seen us be involved in. But hey, that's just me.
