An excellent result.
A performance awash with discipline, application, determination and effort.
A wonderful goal by Zaha.
A top performance from Eze who showed his ability in tight areas, his ability to protect the ball and for that sublime pass to Zaha.
Well done!

You feeling ok, Willo?

Completely worked them over. Anderson absolute maestro. Nunez? At first I thought he was a donkey now I know he is a dumb ass. He’s only been living in scouse land a few weeks and he’s already behaving like them. How to spunk £85m in a heart beat. Haaaah.

Great result, bit difficult to watch to be honest, what with all the possession we gave to Liverpool.

I only read from page 10 onwards of this thread, so apologies if I missed any comments already, but I wanted to mention Doucoure. My understanding was that he was a beast of a DM, crunching tackles etc. From what I could see last night he was the weak link, seemed hesitant, not out of position just no bite to his defensive game. Going forwards he looked better. If he is not going to settle into to Premier league football, he (we) are going to struggle without mettle in that position. I thought we looked much more assured when Hughes replaced him.

Also, I acknowledge, that he is new to the club, the football brand, and the premier league. First time I saw Jedinak I thought he was rubbish - how wrong I was about him too.

Sorry I have to disagree about Dacoure, I thought he had a good game, broke up play, very rarely wasted a pass. Goes about his business in a way he don’t really notice him. All about opinions though

Well, my first Palace game was a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, 49 years and 361 days before last night's result.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Carragher, the Liverpool correspondent, reckoned that although Wilf took his goal well they always concede breakaway goals so it was essentially to be expected which seemed unfair.
As has been said we rode our luck but at the same time limited them to a few long shots and everyone put in a shift.
The new refereeing leniency adds a different dimension - the "Big" clubs can't rely on free kicks and penalties when they need them.

Just an observation that nobody seems to have picked up. Nunez did not headbutt Anderson he gave him a LIVERPOOL Kiss

Felt more like a Roy performance, whilst not comfortable we didn't concede tonnes of good chances. Always looked to break quickly.

Eze bar a few bizzre passes worked hard and showed his quality. We all have to accept that he will make some mistakes, but he also provides the quality to unlock teams so its a double edge sword.

As a team we showed more defensive fight than I can remember under PV. Not a comfortable game to watch, but we seamed to have them pretty well shackled. Can remember Salah having a quieter game.

Richards looked ok when he came on, willing to get stuck in and defend.

Olise looks like he's bulked up a bit. Excited to see him get more game time

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I was a bit frustrated with our performance and especially with Eze because we had so many great opportunities to get at them, but we mucked about way too much with time wasting, hard to understand why, left me very annoyed.

On the whole, got to be pretty delighted with that. We rode our luck at times but equally could have taken all three points with Zaha’s miss. The 5-4-1 was very negative but I guess our tactics were to get them on the counter attack and it worked. Was a grim watch at times. Eze was great on the ball - with him a Olise in full throttle, we’ll be a handful. Was very impressed with Richards when he came on, very strong in the air, I see him starting against Villa in a flat back 4.

My critical comments are:

- Doucoure seems a passenger so far. Hope he can improve his overall game, it’s a big step up from France so I’m sure he’ll get better with games.
- We allowed ourselves to be dominated by 10 men and were incapable of holding the ball. It should have been game over following the red card.

I think we’ve had a bit of luck playing against Arsenal & Liverpool (ie games we’d expect to lose) following our shambles of a pre season. Feeling a lot more positive about the season now - just missing a box to box midfielder to replace Gallagher.
