But the harsh truth is, Ukraine is to a great extent a crisis of the west's own making, such is the degree to which Putin has been appeased over the past decade and more. It may yet be that Putin is seen by history for Johnson and Trump the way Hitler is seen for Chamberlain. For the Anschluss, see the Crimea. The Conservative Party is awash with Russian money; little more needs to be said about Trump's cow-towing to Putin, etc. And if you let your dog think that s***ting indoors is ok, you can't avoid taking some responsibility when he s***s in your bed. There's a great irony to Chelsea being allowed to operate only under license; perhaps the Russia-funded Tories should be put under the same restrictions.

By the way, I do think this is going to radically change football, not just Chelsea. When all is said and done and at some future point the situation in Ukraine is resolved, the days of questionable money pouring into the sport and beneficiary clubs doing little more than buying success unabated will draw to a close. And that will be good for all of us. Last night's game was exciting and a great result for us but sport really shouldn't be won and lost at your banking facility rather than on the pitch. We shouldn't have to celebrate a 0-0 draw at home simply because questionably-sourced foreign cash has dictated the terms of engagement. Ironically, for all we criticise American sports and their franchised approach (mostly for good reason) one thing they have got right is how they administer their leagues (via salary caps, spending restrictions, and so on). It reflects well that teams like the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA), and Atlanta Braves (MLB) win championships despite playing in second-tier markets and not being big, name-brand teams while the New York, Chicago, and other major market teams often struggle. It's a level playing field where anyone can beat anyone else that the Premier League could well do with imitating. In my view every team, if they're well run, ought to be able to compete with and beat every other team. That is not the case right in the PL right now, and it needs to change. Getting rid of dubious foreign money would help do that.

What a scummy club Chelsea are, requesting cup game to be played behind closed doors “ to uphold the integrity of the game!” What a bunch of hypocrites. Edited by Spiderman (15 Mar 2022 3.56pm) Attachment: E8E5CDB9-5468-41D4-83C2-D6CD47647184.png (407.72Kb)

I am all for a level playing field so lets start with each PL club only being allowed to have an annual wage bill and transfer budget of £50m and a massive cash injection for the Football league. No! Didn't think so Chelsea you are happy to buy titles with a dodgy owner so where were you morals then.

If Chelsea are allowed to play BCD, I believe QPR, Brentford, Fulham or whoever else lays a claim should be able to hold a 'training session' within close proximity to Stamford Bridge... and then storm it and occupy the stadium for their own benefits/usage. The claim to be 'denazifying' the club would be far more believable than any other instance that phrase has been used
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

According to google Middlesbrough FC stadium (the Riverside) has a capacity of 34,700 - with an average away allocation of around 3,500, so even if Middlesbrough upped the away allocation for the game, maybe we are talking about 5000 Chelsea fans (max) Originally posted by Spiderman

Not saying I'm ungrateful for the cameos of RLC, Bats, Gallagher etc.

We would be watching the worlds best players at 8am in Riyadh on Al Jeezera before you could say half time beheadings .

PL throughout is full of cash thirsty people who will make sure the money keeps pouring in. If they even remotely cared about equality we wouldn’t have two tv companies that viewers have to subscribe to. Indeed we would be able to watch all games live on tv free.

What was that waffle Alan Shearer just tried using to protect himself and Newcastle fans from criticism?
