I think a point against Burnley will be ok and I think is the most likely outcome actually. Set pieces will be an obvious target for them but I predict a bore draw or 1-1

No disrespect to their effort, they've done well lately, but let's disappoint them!

He combines Benteke’s and Edouard’s strengths in one more all-rounded player. He’s not as good as either of them at their own game (Benteke’s hold up play/physicality; Eduoard’s finishing) but he at least combines them. Useful player to have in the squad. Debatable as to whether he should start every week but i am glad we have him.

Yep, I think the long yearned for expansive play has ultimately come at a cost most if not all (myself included) did not quite take into consideration. I think we had all hoped to add this facet to our game whilst maintaining defensive prowess however this has not happened unfortunately, I'd be reluctant to say it seems to be one or t'other however that looks to be the pickle we are in. I still think Anderson has been a good acquisition for us however given his height, and Danish-ness, I did have in mind a far more aerially dominant player having only ever seen very limited coverage of the player. Again with Guehi, I think it is a weaker part of his game too. Will be interesting in the longer run and perhaps we may see ourselves reverting to the type of old. I would certainly like for us to have that option in the squad/off the bunch to adapt for squeakier bum times. Anyhoo - 1-4 at Vicarage Road is a nice ending to the day and let's hope for a good performance against Burnley to follow up, then I can see a far more relaxed atmosphere around the virtual gaff. Well done, and Come on, you Palace! Good points. Andersen has been a good signing but has not been dominant in the air, especially at set pieces. He was outjumped for one of the Burnley goals at Turf Moor and the goal Moura scored for Spurs showed him waiting for a ball rather than attacking it. Geuhi, whilst another great purchase, is a little smaller anyway and also seems to struggle marking a taller person at set pieces. He appears to be holding more now which is always a high risk strategy. The Watford goal was a perfect delivery against us. Put it in the 6 yard box and it is unlikely out keeper (whoever it is) will come out. This leaves a runner to time a jump. Some clubs use smaller players to act as blockers. Maybe we need to be a little more devious in our defending Edited by palace99 (24 Feb 2022 12.08pm)

I watched their goal and Butlands attempt to get at the ball was feeble.

I thought that the Ref had a good game. Overall he was one of the better ones but he missed Foster taking out Conor for what should have been a penalty.

Before the game i was really fearing Dennis and Sarr tearing us apart with their pace but we kept them pretty quiet especially Sarr who was never in the game so well done boys.

Its often not so much getting your head to the ball before the attacker but just getting in the attackers way (without fouling him obvs) so much that he cant head it properly. Unfortunately for the watford goal I think Clyne was inadvertently blocking Butland who should be coming for those crosses and at the very least punching them clear.

It was a shocking goal to concede. One can ask questions about the defensive organisation at corners but players have to do their jobs, be aggressive and darned well get their heads to the ball.

Conor had already kicked the ball out of bounds by the time of the collision. Was not a penalty (unless we were Liverpool), VAR would have called it if it was. Originally posted by topcat
