I don't necessarily think he's "the answer", I just think he's a considerably better back-up option than Benteke.

Edouard is the answer

It's sounding like you might be right (albeit the figure being bandied around is a bit higher). I would say he looks less Bambi on ice and more running giraffe, but what I would say is that the more he plays the better he seems. He also seems to be closing down more so I would suggest perhaps he has seen how Vieira wants to play and is working hard to fit in. Benteke is an old dog. No new tricks. I like him, but my god he's done well for himself given his return in terms of goals, assists and effort. He has his contract, he's not going anywhere.

If it were me I’d play two of Wilf Edouard and Mateta as a spearhead 2. Then I’d play 4 in the midfield Schluppie left. Gallagher and Hughes then Olise on right wing.

Back up up front Ayew Benteke.
Back 4 usual plus Ferguson.

Job done. No new players required although if van Beek comes then great.

A lot of noise at the moment but one report says trying to make permanent at reduced fee of £8m. That might be reasonable business. Still not convinced but would have some sell on if it doesn’t work.

I always thought this lad had potential, although it has taken a while for him to settle in here. He's definitely improved since he's been given more game time and would be a reasonable punt for £8m. If indeed that is the agreed price.
