Okay then with last season we had an experienced manager in Roy who had the team playing within their means ie not having our centre backs think there prime ramos Also he seemed to keep the players grounded and knew what everyone was doing Well drilled outfit we was called all that was needed was a bit more flair and with that solid base and foundation we would do enough to get through games atm I don’t see that once again I’m hearing if that benteke chance goes in but did you honestly think we deserved to win tonight or on sat against Villa I can just see us struggling again the jimmy Mac missing in the middle is so crucial

Yes it’s disappointing. How many of you believed that we really had a chance of coming 4th like someone posted recently. We are a work in progress and have over achieved to date. Now the confidence has gone we need to get it back quickly though berating the players will achieve nothing. It’s time some of you grew up. I’ve been supporting the team for over 50 years and for the first time in a long time I feel that we have a real chance of building something special as long as we can hold onto Vieira. Negativity will bring the walls tumbling down and we will be in a right jam if that happens. Christ alive. There's a bit of a difference between coming 4th in the league and turning over a clear relegation candidate, particularly when they are pretty poor. I've been supoprting this team for 729 years, so my view trumps yours.

Staying over n York after the game and having a beer to console ourselves. We didn’t deserve to lose that game. Benteke should have scored and potentially a hat trick. We were side on the header and we all thought he must score. And the one that almost crossed the line in slow motion. I think we knew then it wasn’t going to be our night. No trouble that I saw tonight which was a positive. Palace fans noisy. Leeds fans also probably the noisiest home fans so far this season but I hadn’t a clue what the hell they were singing about!

I thought we had the better chances. The first half was very even. Leeds had most of the play second half until Benteke came on. After that we could and should have got at least a point. I thought we defended well and I don’t think Guita had to make a proper save. Ayew and Kouyate were immense.

Pretty narked off by Guehi's lack of self-discipline to concede injury time penalty. It really was a moment of madness.

Think we're only a bit of tinkering away from being better than we were tonight. Still early days and we have enough of a cushion to allow Vieira enough time to figure things out Agreed! Injecting self-discipline across the duration of the whole game incl. extra time through some players is much needed

Reading some of the pant wetting on here on recent pages I don’t think I’ll bother with the rest. I agree with Casual.

Reflecting on the game this morning, I do think the weather played a big role last night. Neither team were able to keep possession for long and the ball was zipping around. It was not a night for playing out from the back and neither team attempted that to any great degree. Tomkins defended astutely but just doesn't have the passing range of Andersen and I think that is a big miss. Without McArthur there seems to be a lack of a vocal leader, perhaps signified by Ward being made Captain. Hughes seemed to be talking more when he came on and I can see him getting more minutes now as he's a scrapper like McArthur and Gallagher. Last night was not a classic, but we didn't surrender the midfield like against Villa and looked more solid defensively (albeit against a toothless attack). Up front we didn't make the most of our chances but in Olise, Eze and possibly even Rak-Sakyi we have more creativity waiting in the wings. I think if we'd drawn or even snatched a win most fans would have said it was an improvement on Saturday, albeit not a great performance. Sunday will be a big test but we have actually been better against top-half teams this season so who knows. One point of note, during the second half one of the commentators pointed out that Vieira was being very vocal about the need for Zaha to work harder for the team - he did seem a bit half-hearted in his defensive duties at times. PV seems like a manager who will make it very clear who's in charge if players don't perform, I just hope Wilf responds in the right way.

Having watched the game i thought it was a vast improvement on the villa performance, we were the better team on the night, the intensity was good, the midfield better balanced without two DM, Hughes had a good cameo and schlupp played ok, Zaha is not the player he was, he has lost his pace, and the one thing i really don't understand is the when Edouard plays instead of Benteke he plays 90% of the time on the Left with Wilf central, then when Benteke comes on he goes central and Wilf goes left, and amazingly i thought Ayew was our best player.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Ayew has played well this season, just not in the area that matters the most when you're a forward player. I do think it's a confidence issue as until he reaches the 18-yard box he looks confident and then suddenly he seems to freeze up and make the wrong decision.
