Was absolutely delighted with a draw (after twice being behind)
I would expect many wouldve feared no points at this stage, so 2 on the board already is a platform.

Watching yesterday game , I was impressed in the 2nd half especially by McArthur , he put a real shift in and was always in the builds up to our attacks ... great work rate , and a well deserved point . Just need to start games as we did the 2nd half

I was there. Was anybody else there that commented on this thread? Some of the posts are ridiculous.

I think they all played well in the second half, including Benteke and Wilf. It was a right good crack and reminded me how much I've missed matches. The West Ham fans didn't like it up them at all 😀

I see Anderson has been getting some stick from Wet Spam fans saying they dodged a bullet. Totally unfair IMO, Antonio is unplayable at the moment and his goal could have dropped behind him. No doubt the first they scored was great link up play. Then Moyes says it was the pitches fault, hahaha. Just say they were better than us in second half and draw over 90 minutes was fair. Well done PV, definitely a point I didn't think we'd get. When players return and a new forward we have a lot more to look forward too.

I agree, great result yesterday and certainly a point I was not expecting, whereas of course WH were expecting 3. Andersen is still finding his feet under PV, so even if he was a bit off yesterday overall he will be a great signing and addition to the defensive quality of CP. The defensive set up, especially, in the first half made us look like a load of headless chickens at times and what was missing was a leader at the back organising the defence but I'm sure once Andersen finds his feet that will improve and he will become more assertive. Getting players in the oppositions 6 yard box, especially in the 2nd half yesterday was a great improvement but having said that it's still clear we need at least three more this window (Proven striker, winger and robust solid proven full back), fingers crossed they will come!

I was there. And yes the Wet Spam are a salty lot. Same as the game 2 seasons ago when Ayew won us the game.

Interesting, would be good to see the same diagram for our two games against West Ham last season. I thought the game where Haller scored the worldie was one of our best performances up until Benteke's red card.

Same. Before the game my most optimistic hope was 1:1 - ie we scored a goal and didn't lose. So 2:2 is great.

Having watched the full 90 minutes on Game of the Day on Sky last night I can understand why Clinton Morrison slated us off in the first half on Soccer Saturday.

The second half was almost miraculously different.

I thought Wilf played well, Ayew managed to keep possession, McArthur belied his age and Anderson impressed with his forward passing. Gallagher stole the show and has impressive energy (and skill).

My major reservation is with Kouyate. He can break up attacks but almost inevitably gives the ball away, he has no creative ability. Hopefully the introduction of Hughes may rectify this.

If we can find a maurauding striker (like Armstrong or Ings) combined with a playmaker in support we should progress.

I saw in the Mirror that Moyes is blaming the state of the pitch. But it’s their pitch

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

I thought he was unlucky with 2nd goal, he was nudged whilst in the air ( not much you can do about that), still got his head to the ball, but a lucky bounce off Antonio’s head set him up nicely.
People saying our 2 CBS need replacing by Tomkins are talking rubbish. How many chances did WH actually create?

Spot on. Can't blame him for that goal. Once Antonio had the ball and legs on him, with his form at the moment you knew he was going to put it into the net. Tommo is a good back up but shouldn't replace either at the moment. For our first goal great work by Gallagher and nice to see other players in the six yard box as well. If Gallagher can cause that sort of havoc in there could well be other players capitalising if need be.

Couple of takeaways for me beyond the first half poor second half good.

We actually scored a goal from a cross out wide. The cross actually came from Wilf and hit Benteke. Add in the Gallagher delivery to Guehi late on and I can see we are perhaps developing a route to goal we didn't have last season much

We would have been out of the game hadn't Ward cleared off the line. No he is far from perfect but this is the sort of thing he does - still has excellent positional sense and awareness in my book.
