I have heard of this establishment being referred to as the 'Horn & Crumpet'. I can't remember it being known as the 'Horn & Crumpet', but I do recall leaving with a lady on my arm. That lady is now my wife.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

I suspect that the erudite 'Palace Old Gezzer' was dressed to the nines, shoes polished to a shiny buff and cutting a magnificent dash.I would not have been able to compete with him.

Can't remember what I was wearing Willo old chap. But I did have my suits made to measure at that fine establishment, Montague Burton. And just for the avoidance of doubt my wife and I were 'going out' at the time.

And just for the avoidance of doubt my wife and I were 'going out' at the time. I recall those halcyon days of 'Courting' and 'Dating' with not a mobile phone in sight. 'Montague Burton' a fine establishment indeed.I have an image of you slender as a gazelle with a shampoo-advert mane! Returning to the splendid photographs, I have delighted at seeing some of the old vehicles, some of which might have had starting handles and manual chokes.
