For me, it's as simple as this: Now, I'm looking forward to the season beginning. Had nothing changed, I wouldn't be. Eating tripe week after week may keep you alive, but there comes a point (for me, anyway) where you just can't eat any more. So it's glass half-full for me. I'm in and excited again.

Apologies if this has been provided already. BBC giving a fairly well researched (for them) piece on Vieira: Not what you'd call a glowing reference, but personally I'm happy with the appointment and am cautiously optimistic, subject to our transfer market dealings being OK.

Time for me to put my reservations on this appointment to one side and get behind it. May well end up being an inspired decision- who knows!

I’m with you IMO great appointment - really excited....!! As you have outlined an absolute winner - also played under Wenger, coached under Guardiola - two of the greatest Managers of the last two decades..!! Also thought he came across very well as a pundit in the Euros - talked a lot of sense..!! There’s no way he’d come to Palace unless he thought/knew he would/was going to be backed in terms of investment. Viera is not just a Premier League star he’s a global star..!! I just don’t understand some of the negative comments on here - moaning no Manager being appointed - then one is who is a massive name - still moaning. Just no pleasing some folk..!! Come on PV let’s now start getting in some exciting young talent - starting with Micheal Olise - also French so with PV now as Manager must give us a good chance..!! Come on Viera...!! COYP

It’s a brave decision on both sides. He has his reputation on the line. If it’s a disaster he will get the sack so he has plenty to deliver.

Has anybody else noticed that, like Karl Pilkington, Patrick Vieira has a perfectly round head?

Vierra, Veria, Viera, Verruca... The man had the name on his shirt for so many years... Guys, just call him Patrick, if it's really that hard to spell VIEIRA. Edited by PortugueseEagle (04 Jul 2021 11.03pm)

If we finish 17th or better under PV, bearing in mind all the issues around squad rebuild, I will consider the season to have been a great success.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

My two pence worth. He has potential, did well when nurtured at City. At Nice they sold a lot of their star players, plus, managers are allowed mistakes and bad spells. Also, he's a natural leader and knows the game, well. The press releases has him saying he will work close with Freedman and Parish, that's not a bad thing. He has a project to deliver, so exciting times in that respect. Also, an aspect of south London culture, that parish has been dipping his toe into a lot recently, can't be bad having a BAME manager.
