2 shots on target - 6 in all - yet the BBC report has the Everton goalie as man of the match. Interesting.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Strange that he got that as there were more worthy candidates on either side

I'm just back from the game and fairly pleased. I thought we competed well and it was a pretty sound performance and, individually, an encouraging one from Ayew. I also thought, amongst others, Ward and Kelly played well. However, there is still the ongoing worry of where the goals are going to come from.

I thought Ward had a good game, but we obviously missed the defensive solidity of AWB and I still don’t understand why we didn’t get another good RB in. If Ward gets injured between now and January .....

The Sunday Times had PVA as man of the match!

Respect the point , especially after all the nonsense that has been going on this Summer....

I do respect it. I was actually intending to be positive by highlighting that Pickford was rated as MoM. Similar to the pride I felt when Ray Clemence was MoM in a 0-0 FA Cup tie at Anfield many years ago. (We lost the replay at Selhurst though )

It was a solid performance, in particular in defence with some good displays by the back four.
As many of us could have foreseen there was a lack of creativity going forward and in midfield, but we still created some good chances.
If Zaha can be reintegrated and find some form I think we’ll be okay, but we will rely on goals being spread around the team because I can’t see one player getting 15-20 goals.

Townsend's corners could have been better.

In all fairness the conditions were dreadful so regulation corners were never going to work. We should have taken some short ones to counter that but I guess that idea never occurred to them

Jimmy Mc had a solid game yesterday and wont be giving up his place anytime soon.

I never really worry about our defense no matter who plays as we are one of the most organised in the division and everyone knows their roles, hence why we rarely get hammered by any team.

Id imagine when all are fit then we are going to see different starters and formations for home and away games as it is at home where we really struggle to break teams down. Last season we would zero options from the bench for most of the season.

Everton have spent almost £200m on players since last summer. We've spent around £17.5m. With that outlay Everton should be dominating us and the fact they didn't is testament to Roy and Ray's organisation. Sadly though our lack of spending probably means we are in for another season where defensive solidity takes precedence over attack or entertainment.

OTT, he had lots of brilliant potential but buckets to learn still, with him the score would have been the same because he wouldn't have been missing the clear cut chances, everyone needs to calm down over AWB ..piggy bank nothing else.

Moise-Kean etc didn’t play and Iwobi came on late. We’ll still spend the season 8-10 places apart. I thought we competed well but only 2 x 1 minute periods on 55 mins and later on we were actually dangerous.

Not complaining on Roy because I knew he had to play last season’s players again and with Wilf fit to come on he made the 60 minute sub instead of 82 mins, but that’s how I saw the game. Composure in front of goal was sub standard again and Benteke nowhere to be seen hiding behind two players at the far post when there’s a perfect tap rolling across the goal mouth.

Concerning Maupay had a similar chance for bha at Watford and rounded the keeper to score whereas Ayew, as probably all of our players would’ve done, hit it straight at the keeper with the foot the ball was at. No adjustment of body or anything to bend it over or round the keeper. Just whack the ball in the direction of goal.
