The players looked totally demoralised when Watford equalised. My issue is the spirit that has run through the team since we got promoted seems to be disappearing under the tactical set up that Hodgson uses .Van Aanholt doesn't seem to push forward as quickly as he used to ,and we seen happy to pass the ball across the back for three or four passes rather than use the long ball to release Wilf and Andros. That approach makes it so easy for the opposition to get men behind the ball and without a centre forward who can score (no offence to Benteke, Wickham, Ayew and Sorloth ) limits our attacking options. This system also appears to be crushing the life out of Wilf
I agree about Roy tactics they are almost like what Frank wanted to do without the fast flowing attacking play and it's really dull. Those other thing as you stated if you add those direct balls or long balls as some people call them it suits Benteke it's his game so he would be back to being good player again Big Sam did this and look how his form came back. Wilf is just overrated big fish small pond and yes when he plays up top that is wrong but even when in his best position he hasn't been great he wants to do too many tricks also focused on getting freekicks too much his heads not in it. Guaita got injured mate. Roy needs to make subs more but the starting 11 was decent today. Shame he looks like could be number one keeper easily but again not sure Roy thinks so he likes Wayne. No point doing subs for sake of it but yes I agree at times you need something different or to switch it up but he doesn't like that he is rigid. I wouldn't say the starting 11 was best choice Kelly deserved to play and Koyoute is so average also doesn't offer anything going forward so another defensive player then final one Ayew again playing him wrong we have all seen he can't do that role up top by himself so why not try Wickham even if it's only 45min could of even had Ayew and Wickham play together. Another big problem is we are useless at set plays now on one of the feeds it said we have had over 100 corners with 1 goal that is bad this department used to be one of out strengths I remember Dann used to bang in 3-4 from these. We need to bring in a bunch of coaching staff good quality ones that would really help if you look at who is on the books it is very poor and they are defensive ones no attacking/shooting type coaches. I think a draw would have been a fair result today with Foster producing a couple of decent saves and McArthur and Wilf wasting great chances. It was quite an open game and I thought Wilf played well despite not taking his chances. However, we did look a bit more shaky at the back than in recent games and once again it was Wilf and PvA or Andros and AWB doing good work but with no striker worth his salt to aim for in the middle. When Tekkers came on he provided something to aim for and won a couple of headers that kept the ball alive, but it was too little too late. Personally I think we need to sign an attacking player just to add some new ideas and freshness as much as anything. Watford didn't actually manage Wilf or Andros that well and we probably should have scored more than one goal. Players like Wilf, Luka and even Sakho are capable of hitting defence-cutting passes, but we just don't have someone making those kind of runs at the moment. Very frustrating to lose, but given recent results I'm happy enough with Roy and the team. A little bit of quality in the window will make a big difference in my mind. Meyer has been disappointing and we do need more attacking flair in midfield. If the Victor Moses rumour comes off then that would definitely add to our options

This is Meyer first season he needs time to adapt and it doesn't help when he doesn't get game time and when he does again not used correctly so many times Roy keeps sticking him out on left wing.

Back from the game. Wasteful in front of goal, we never look like scoring. Could see the tide turning at around 60th minute, but clearly Roy didn't. WH did himself few favours, and was getting irritating seeing Zaha beat 2-3 players multiple times, giving them ample time to rush back and pack the box. Townsend's crossing was poor. Set pieces were generally poor. Ayew looked lively initially, and good to see Benteke back on the pitch. No idea why Schlupp came on. We need a plan B when plan A invariably doesn't produce results. But Roy doesn't have one. Each week he doesn't have one. I'm concerned. Edited by davenotamonkey (12 Jan 2019 7.17pm)

Agree with post above. Midfield kept passing backwards and sideways but straight to the opposition when it went forward. Kouyate was particularly sloppy. Change in keeper made a big difference as did Wilf's poor finishing. We'll be in a relegation battle for some time yet.

Hodgson must be pulling his hair out. Once again easy chances went begging and what can he do. Zaha is outrageously talented but you wouldn't back him to score a simple tap-in. Would be better not starting and introduced as a sub IMO.

1 darned goal scored by one of our players in the last 4 home games and that was an 86th minute goal against a League Two side down to 10 men after a few minutes. Supporters have really had ENOUGH of putting up with this dross home game after home game and something has to change. Abject and unacceptable garbage.

Totally agree. Good we are about to spend millions on the stadium so that another 10,000 poor sods will have to sit through that every fortnight.

I have just listened to the after match press conference with roy and if it was any other guy they would of walked from this club the owners are complete joke. we are only looking at loans or free players also what stood out is how he mentioned about we don't search world wide for players its not worth it he dont have a clue. you can see he is getting annoyed because yes the press keep asking same old questions but what does he expect same old mistakes keep being made also he is not resolving the issues with how poor we are at set plays plus in front of goal. when you look at it i understand why other managers walked

I would like to fly down and take spawn to a game at Selhurst for a day out. But a 1000 mile round trip, 18 hour day and hundreds of pounds of outlay to watch tripe like that? F*** off. It's not something we could exactly do often. Is this how Parish proposes to fill this new stand?
