Roy will have identified the players he wants and those he will release it's up to Parrish and Freeman to prove they are actually up to the job. Our manager has proved himself the other two haven't. Sadly I think that SP will keep his head firmly up his arse and try again to do it late and on the cheap.

You really haven't got a clue, only 7 teams have bought more expensive players than Palace.
Most record signing fall well below our 2 most expensive players.

One thing is for sure, Roy was concerned that he couldn't plan because he didn't know what division we were going to be in. Well that is no longer an issue so fingers crossed the button has been pressed and the players we were considering are now being lined up.

We have a couple of months to get players in so lets hope, now that Dougie has been in post for a while, he will start earning his money.

I would like to see a GK, DM, AM, No10 and a winger of comparable standard to Wilf and Andros to provide competition. If Joel goes then we will need another RB as well.

We will all watch with bated breath, but I hope that for once, any new players are in post before the pre-season tour so they get time to play in the squad before the season starts. I think moving the deadline forward should help this.

It is strange to read on here that our squad is so short on quality. This season more than any other I can remember we have had to rely on squad players. After a terrible start and the largest injury list I can remember and yet it is still possible we will finish in the top ten. Our squad is fine for a club of our size. Let’s keep them together and with a few key additions we can look forward to next season with confidence

I think I can see what he means though. The issue isn't that we're bringing in "cheap" players instead of quality, or refusing to address obvious gaps properly, but that we spend the whole window prevaricating over each deal then on the last day we have the deal fall through and end up with vacancies as a result. If we do sign the player we generally end up paying what was asked anyway. We need to get the process of closing transfer deals sorted.

This. People were moaning that our squad wasn't big enough at the exact time we were utilising our big squad! Only the really big clubs can afford to have 2 first XIs.

We need several smart acquisitions to cover the departures Roy is warning of. Ideally improving on what we have, or giving more options & flexibility. GK already lined up with what looks like a smart piece of business - but that's what we all thought about Mandanda...

And let's not forget that the 'Window' shuts 3 weeks earlier than normal - On 9th August instead of 31st August.

I thought you were expecting us to be in the Championship..

Sorry, Willo, I couldn't resist.

I have no issue with your comment whatsoever.

Yes I was expecting us to be in the Championship and I am delighted that I have been proved wrong.

Good point.
World Cup may make it difficult to get business done early this summer though. Need better cover in certain areas that's for sure.

Do we want to keep Cabaye, for me, I'm just not sure? Another 2 years if he wants?

He is now 32.
A host of injury problems and he rarely lasts the entire game.
I suspect he will leave and probably return to France.
