I am one of your 'positive' brigade.
I meet people like you all the time. There is black clouds in the sky and you think its going to rain.
The sun comes out and we are all going to get sunstroke.
Enjoy the rain, enjoy the sun.Makes the flowers grow.
We have issues. Injuries, more than most, loss of confidence perhaps, passion for our team? yes always and if you negative brigade want to wallow in your doom and gloom, save your money dont come and most of all do not try and impose your misery on others.
Benteke keep going young fella, the sun will come out for you again and yes we will stay up. I dont expect much from the next 3 games, but watch us fly after that and stay in the premiership.
Rant over.
Darling! wheres me milk and biscuit, Bananas in Pyjamas is just coming on, wheres me bloody glasses.

Great post, sir.
Thank you for your positivity

I'm not sure that's a biased or unfair thing to say from Shearer though.

We are one point away from relegation with a long list of injuries and our main 30 million pound striker is now definitely over the hill and not just a blip in form.

I was 100% certain Swansea were gone. I was also certain Huddersfield will burst their bubble and join them.

Now, I couldn't possibly predict who will go down, it's frightening and frustrating just how no one has completely fallen away. I still have a personal opinion that Huddersfield will run out of steam and finish 20th but that is a pure gut instinct now. Nothing to base that off as they looked very good against Bouremouth.

I think Newcastle are too big and have too good a Manager to go down. Southampton could drop possibly, so could Brighton but then so could we. That's kinda the trouble, any pundit can choose any 3 right now and we can't really give them stick.

You have to look at how we are playing as well. The players and even Roy to an extent look like they give 1000% to get us above water, all expecting the January cavalry and got no one.

They shouldn't be allowed to use that as an excuse but it might take a month and a collection gathering of breath to actually realise this is it, the reinforcements aren't coming and this squad need to do it.

Roy as a Manager is also going to have to start accepting that as unfair as it may be if he was made promises from the board, players like Chung-Yong Lee who he has written off will need to be re-assessed. You can't just keep naming them on the bench but not playing them because you don't trust them. Our starting 11 is looking knackered.

This is a very good summing up, with which I agree.

It'd be a very silly pundit who didn't include us as possible drop candidates what with our injury list, lack of goals and immediate fixtures.

Yes - we do look an obvious candidate at the moment with others picking up wins that we can’t seem to manage. As was obvious from yesterday though just one win still changes everything as we are all so tightly packed. We’ll need some points from the next three games to stay out of the bottom three I believe though. I think that’s possible - none of them are completely infallible.

Conclusion: fantastic striker; shocking pundit.

Most of his negativity about our beloved club he usually has to swallow.

Thus, ignore.

He’s correct though isn’t he, the players need to realise this because we don’t look like a side fighting for their lives. They thought the job was done and have taken their foot off the gas. Newcastle were there for the taking last week and we blew it!

The obvious candidate changes every week. I suspect it will be us for the next 3/4. Then we will have played all but one of the top boys; we will have sakho, schlupp, Kelly and wilf back; sørthoth will be banging them in; and we will only have a succession of fellow bum feeders to play.

Yes mate, I'm very concerned. Other teams are fighting for their lives as shown in recent weeks.
I don't think we are going to replicate their results.
So after another 3 games we will be in bigger trouble.
I think it will be down to the last half a dozen games when the opposition is a little easier.
No back up goalkeeper either, what a great non event was the last transfer window.
Zaha's injury was the last straw. He has had no protection from day one. Awful refereeing has just added to our gloom.
Next Monday, Spurs at home which will be no gloom lifter!

i don't think it's being negative to admit we are now in serious trouble.

We are not in form , have a long injury list and we have 4 of the top 5 to play in our next 5 games.

On top of that most of the bottom sides are picking up points so if we are not in the bottom 3 by the end of March i will be both relieved and surprised.

So can Roy galvanise our threadbare and unbalanced squad as he did back in October? Hopefully.

What we need are the big players (on paper) to pull their weight.

Benteke, Townsend and Cabeye are all very highly paid international players. It is time they stepped up to the plate. No excuses these 3 have massively underperformed.

With a bit of luck - both on the pitch and with injuries and with Roy's football brain i still think we will be ok, but it might go down to the wire.
