If (and I appreciate it's an if) we win against West Ham then they will only be two points ahead of us. I'm not ready to throw the towel in yet. Watching West Ham last night they have a lot of quality individuals but I can't see them sitting as deep or being as disciplined as Newcastle. They let a fairly average Brighton team take them apart on the break and defensively they look weak. Plus they have Joe Hart in goal.

The big question will be does Roy stick with the same team again?

Taking Wilf off is pointless - it just stops us going forward in the same way.
I haven't heard or seen anything of the game but why take your top player off with 10-15 mins to go - the only one who will cause the opposition problems!
The radio says that their man had a free header - another set piece disaster - yes or no?

Correct. It was a total shambles in which van Aanholt was particularly implicated. Given the sitters that he missed it's time he got dropped.

Not blaming Roy but I wonder if taking Zaha off gave Newcastle a lift.

They didn't have to worry about shutting him down, it freed them up. Stupid, stupid substitution, awful decision by Roy. Should have taken Cabaye off at HT and brought RLC on then.

Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot.

No (to it being a free header). JM headed the ball against their players head at close range. It was very unlucky as it made the ball go pretty quickly and loop towards the goal.

We had two great chances to score - Wilf with that first half header and PVA sliding in but somehow missing it. We can't keep giving up such chances. Their goal would have simply been a consolation. Reminds me of the Burnley game all over again.

Agree entirely but do I have to be the one who says Benteke would of probably scored both of those chances ?

What cost us today is lack of a striker and lack of gk. Two things that everybody knew we needed in July...but on the last day of the transfer window we decided to spunk all our money on another centre back giving us 5 or 6 players competing for 2 places. At that point our fate was already sealed. All we are seeing now is the evidence of what catastrophically stupid decisions were made.

Okay.
We do seem to struggle at set pieces though when given that we have Dann and Sakho there who should be marshalling things.
It sounds like it might have been unlucky but it is still a defeat.
The only positive thing is that we were in the game for nearly all of it and should have scored.
The worry is only 2 goals in 9 games - OUCH!!!!!!!!!!

Depends what this form is refering to?

If it's based on the last two games. Avgerage 1.5points a game, then on this form we'll be on 40ish points.

Unless Brighton, Bournemouth and Huddersfield drop points 40 points might not even be safe this season.

We were poor last season and we just got lucky to stay up under BFS. Our main striker under performed and now got injured - perhaps one Frazier Campbell is better than none. The management should have improved the squad and prepared us for the current season but they didn't. With 21 points lost since the start of season and no striker probably till Jan could we catch up ?

Ah right. I saw it on stream and heard his name mentioned.
