Just seen this individual had 11 Minutes !! If I had eleven minutes of firing into a densely populated crowd of people, with easy access to rounds, I could have put down range about 1500 rounds. Even with a 1 in 10 kill rate thats still over double the amount.

Which kind of back ups my assumption that this sick Fcker was "used" by a more sinister group.

He was firing indiscriminately with a bump stock that means things were far from smooth on his end of his rifles. If you watch the body cam footage released by LVPD, you can hear him empty entire mags at once.

If he'd wanted to be selective, I'm sure he could've been. I suspect, though, that it was easier for him to fire into a faceless crowd than it was to select and kill individuals in the open.

There's a lot we don't know about why this guy went off his trolley but, unless he was bizarrely turned to ISIS - the only group to have laid claim to the guy - this may be as simple as a guy slowly going nuts in plain sight and then losing it in a horrific meltdown.

Firstly clearly you have moved on from Brasso, and your morning tipple is now paint stripper.

Secondly David Icke ? it has already been mentioned that he paid his girlfriend 0,000 a week prior to the shooting, it's not a massive leap of faith to think that was a payment he'd received, for what ? and why not leave it to her in a will ?

Paddock was somewhat wealthy, owning multiple properties around the country, including in Florida, Texas and Nevada. I suspect 100 grand wasn't much to him, so it's hard to see this as a gun-for-hire event. As for his will, maybe he was giving her some walking around money until his estate was cleared - it will likely have about 597 lawsuits to settle first, after which there may not be anything left.

It is curious that some countries are awash with guns and yet have a low murder rate. Then again in America often guns are deemed as a symbol of power, rather than one of self defense, which explains why a ludicrous number of people have 10+ and don't think twice about it. It's a nation that gets its way through might and that filters through to the mindset of the populous.

Those trying to deflect attention away from guns often say that this is a mental health - not gun control - issue. Well, that's partly true; but they undercut themselves when the same people vote - this year - to remove prohibitions on people with mental health issues from buying guns. Yes, that really happened.

Canada is awash with guns. I suspect, though, that they aren't military-style assault rifles. Also, they have universal healthcare, so that people with mental health issues can get treatment. Here in the good ol' U.S. of A., mental health coverage - even under Obamacare - is limited at best. Before Obamacare, you got 30 days under a good plan, then you were on your own. The majority of insurance plans had no mental health coverage.

So, yes, it's a mental health issue in that people with mental health issues go mostly untreated, are out in public, and have open access to as many guns and as much ammo as they can accumulate.

Not necessarily. If a vested-up Bruce Willis had been there all it would have taken was one shot by him and the killer would have been slotted between the eyes a few seconds after the first burst and before you know it everyone would have been wisecracking and laughing.

This is the "good guy with a gun" fantasy upon which much of the opposition to gun control is based.

Similarly, much of the support for "enhanced interrogation" after 9/11 was derived from people seeing how successful it was at eliciting quick, accurate answers on the show "24". I wish I was joking; it was cited in government memos at the time.

Of course, what actually happened was the threat level went up and down like a whore's drawers as interrogation subjects blurted out anything and everything they could to stop whatever was being done to them. U.S. intelligence services spent years - and wasted valuable man-hours - chasing down every bogus lead that came out of the program.

This is what happens when we elect dumb people to positions of power.

Doing a bit of background sniffing - the USA is the only country with more guns than people (only Wiki, but still) with over 110 guns per 100 people (UK is 6.6)

Further - this is terrifying (gun laws by state) and might just explain why the US police are so much more likely to shoot suspects (very good chance they are armed): [Link]

I blame Brexit.

On top of this, the shooter had two 'bump stocks'. These are perfectly legal devices that allow you to turn to a semi automatic firearm into a fully automatic one.

“This replacement shoulder stock turns a semi-automatic rifle into a weapon that can fire at a rate of 400 to 800 rounds per minute,” she said. [Link]

What possible necessity could there be for owning this. This isn't about self defense.

LVPD confirmed last night that he had 12 bump stocks. TWELVE!
