You know we can all judge Roy on England debacle but shall we just ignore what he did at Fulham, taking them to a European final? Shall we ignore how he saved WBA? Shall we ignore his heroics with Switzerland? Shall we ignore his record in Sweden? Shall we ignore how highly thought of he is at one of the biggest club sides in the world?

My only reservation is age. But sorry, his overall record stands up against anyone else we've been linked with. A terrible euros and World Cup definitely stains his reputation. But the way some people are behaving you'd think we're getting Mullary.

You've made reference to Hodgsons record as an international manager, but I'm a little confused. If Woy only loses two games at the helm, and one is a friendly, I'll be more than happy

I agree, good post. RH seems to be well liked and respected by Fulham and WBA fans for what he did there. [Link]

What Palace obviously need is someone who will restore defensive stability, get the best out of the players we have got, play them in their best positions, and build the confidence of the squad. If he can get Luka playing well as DM, and integrate Sakho, Loftus Cheek and Wilf of course, then we shoud be able to pull out of trouble over the course of the season.

Frank is simply worlds apart in terms of ability as a manager compared to his ability as a player. Obviously talks a good talk but no one can deny he looked shell shocked after Huddersfield. Sounds like there was a clash of egos on the training pitch and he was naive to think he was ever going to come out of that well. We've a squad that should comfortably avoid relegation with a half competent manager at the helm i.e. someone like Roy.

Can we just stop calling Roy, " Woy ". We kinda grew out of calling Sam " Big Fat Sam" to just Big Sam when he started winning.

It's not like FDB was WDB.

This is what Hodgson has said :

“I didn’t realise I had a speech impediment until I came back to England,” he said.

“I spent the whole of my life working abroad with no one mentioning it, and as soon as I came back to England I suddenly found out I had a speech impediment.”

Asked if he thought the focus on it was cruel, he replied: “I don’t think anything’s cruel. If you’re so sensitive these days that you see cruelty everywhere, then unfortunately every time a comedian comes on the television you’re going to accuse him of cruelty because that’s the type of humour the English people enjoy.

“I suppose I was aware of it, but nothing like to the extent of the first newspaper headline or (England successor Sam) Allardyce’s recent impersonation.”

I don't get the Hodgson was crap manager. didn't he have one of the best qualifying records of most (if not all) recent England managers? yes, it all fell apart at The Euros, but that's been the Case since 1996!

I didn't want FdB gone, but there are worse candidates than Hodgson.
He's got a good record at this Level, barring liverpool and I'm confident he will get us playing.
Is he the ideal signing? No. but we had the chance to sign the Ideal manager in the summer and got FdB - who may have been, we'll never know.

If it's Hodgson, let just get behind him and support him and he Lads. We need some stability at this club, not more fractious whining.
