Ahhhh, well then...perhaps then that's a starting place. Maybe the way it was installed could be a contributing factor as well? I know there are rumours that the 'breaks' which should be in place at every floor, may not have been installed properly or at all.

If that's the case then the Installation company and possibly the Local Authority Inspectors should expect a large deal of scrutiny.

Big issue for me is that it used to be the fire brigade that were responsible for passing buildings as fit and proper for habitation regarding fire regs, but now it is the buildings owner / management company that are responsible.

Wasnt there a recent Fire inspection on the building undertaken by the FB?

I dunno tbh.

How the f*** can building regs allow flammable cladding to be used?
Who writes the building regs - does it differ from authority to authority or are there national regs?
Was the fire preventable?

No doubt this will descend into a slanging match. I am not particularly fond of Boris and his comments and general air about him in that video are crass.. BUT.. fire brigade cuts.. They were at the scene in 6 minutes , they aren't to blame for there only being one stair well and no external fire escape. What could they really have done any differently. More of them on the scene would it have made any difference. Those people on the top floors would still have been trapped there burning. They don't have the equipment to get up that high.

With hindsight ANYTHING is preventable, the problem is that in cases such as this there is no one thing that is the cause...more a combination of things form the time of day the fire broke out, how it broke out, the weather conditions (a higher wind would whip up the fire quicker), potentially shoddy application of the facade, its construction, the fact it didnt apparently breach building regs, the incident occurring during Ramadan (which meant people in the community were up and able to raise the alarm quickly), the lack of retrospectively fitted smoke alarm/sprinkler system, the works being signed off in that condition (if they were).....and that's just off the top of my head.

All these are influencing factors that have had an effect on the death toll...both positively and negatively...that's why its not as simple as blaming one thing or individual because it suits us.

I heard that the highest floor the firemen got to during the fire was the fourteenth.

It's gonna be in the hundreds.

LBC reporter said that a list of possible missing had 400 names.
The drone used has seen multiple bodies but still can't get to the centre of the building because of spontaneous small fires continually breaking out.

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think.

There's been 400 calls according to the news but fingers crossed many of those were about the same person/people.
