A goal is 24 feet wide and when Erikssen picked up the ball with no-one closing him down Hennessy was in the middle of his goal as he should be. Even allowing for his height and outstretched arm he can only cover nine feet of the 12 either side of him. Do you really understand the speed at which these pros can hit the ball? Just like Coutinho on Saaturday Erikssen's shot went like an arrow just inside the post.

Go to your local park and find a goal and stand in the middle and see how much ground you have to make up if you want to save a shot that is just inside the post.

Yes Hennessy has made mistakes in the past but neither Saturday or tonight was one of them.

Calling it a "mistake" probably a bit harsh. He just isn't a top-class goalkeeper and I think that shows why we need one.

Coutinho's strike on Sunday no f***er could have stopped.

What worries me is what happens if we pick up any injuries in central defence. We've lost Dann, Tomkins and Sakho in rapid succession so if anything happens to either Delaney or Kelly (already a far from top choice pairing), we're going to look f*cked.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I don't think so. You could argue we were a little under done by Sunday's win but they are after all, professionals. We ceded them 70% possession and they set up wave after wave from midfield. I thought our defense played ok but we were definitely affected by the injury to Sahko and gaps started to appear too regularly. We need to grind out draws in games like this when we were clearly second best.

Spurs are on a run of 8 wins in a row in the league, a very strong, but dirty side. It was always going to be tough, having one day less to recover after Sunday.
Sakho injury visible deflated us.

We played like we did at the beginning of the season. We lost our discipline, especially after Sahko went off. Reverted to stupid long hopeful balls out of defense, gave Zaha and Townsend no meaningful service. Totally outclassed in midfield (but somehow you expected that), gave then too much time and respect. It took one great shot to win it but I think it could have been saved (no disrespect to WH).

These are the kind of matches we need to learn from and come away with a point. Like SA said, if you can't win it don't lose it !

What a load of cobblers. It was nothing lkke the start of the season. We played really well first half, and they should of been down to 10 men. Second half we visably tired and Sakho going off effected the team too. But we defended really well, with one lapse of concentration leaving Ericsson too much space to rifle in a shot. Players gave there all, just worried they may not recover in time for Saturday.

Question is whether Palace can recover in time for Saturday - three matches in seven days is very tough, and Burnley will have rested. Plus we have lost three key defenders for the rest of the season. Burnley have the worst away record of the league and our attack should be irresistible. But I shall be very relieved to get those last three points over the line. If we win on Saturday and Swansea lose at Man Utd, I think that settles it.

I thought we were excellent first half, hard to believe we were in the bottom three two months ago.

Typical unpleasantness from Ali and he 'drew' a foul (from Luka I think) in the box by crouching down and allowing Luka to lean on him.

And it wasn't given

Agree. Not many keepers would have stopped that. Midfielders fault for giving him so much space.

I don't know, I think a nil-nil would have been fair, since the ref decided having a yellow means you have free reign to do whatever the f*** you want, they were all over us at the end but we were holding them, just. And they win through what was really a hail mary. That shot was very good but it could so easily have gone wide WH could? Should? Have got a hand to it. No-one expected to lose Sakho like that and you can argue that they are professionals but that got to hit you, especially after all the hype that's been built up around him. If we were playing like we were under Mildew we'd have shipped two three goals at the end there. I'm not actually sure bringing on Cabaye for McArthur was the right thing to do as well.

I don't know, gutted about Sakho though.
