Apparently Norwich fans were singing 'Does your b/f know you're here' to the scum last night too! Everyone's at it FFS - even the soppy Canaries! We're their biggest rivals so of course we're gonna sing it too!

PC gone mad

It's no different to the "n" or "p" words & a majority of adults get that. The thing that boils my **** about this kind of **** is being told by some sanctimonious ****** that I should be offended by it. They, above all, should shut the **** up & stop trying to make themselves look special, especially when all most of us want is to treated like everybody else."

Perhaps it might be the most relevant perspective on the issue, despite the beer consumption involved.

It's certainly a naive perspective. The point is, whether banter or not, this kind of behaviour legitimises homophobia. Not everyone is intelligent or mature enough to disseminate what is "a bit of a laugh" from what is bigotry. Is a 10-year-old boy going to understand that homophobic chanting is in fact not an insult but actually being done by kind-hearted folk who are just on a jolly? Or how about the group of friends that wear velcro shoes to avoid the intellectual challenge of putting their footwear on each morning; will they understand the subtle nuances of the chants?

Will all of the dogooders be outraged when Br*ghton sing 'you're just a bunch of pikeys' at us?

I doubt it because defending travellers isn't as hip as making out that you are not homophobic.

And if, Bigdaz, you use this 'banter' you will be fueling homophobic violence.

On a different tangent, where do you draw the line, calling a Scotsman a Scot is normal, but calling a pakistani a **** isn't, although when the world cup cricket was on over here in the late 1990's the pakistani supporters had banners with come on you ****s

Chelsea fans chanting sieg heil and Hitler's going to gas them again to the Spurs fans is just banter too I suppose? Just because it goes on, doesn't mean it's okay. It makes me cringe every time I hear us chant this crap at that lot.

The Scot's haven't had to deal with decades of oppression and indentured servitude either. White privilege, go look it up.

Absolutely true 'Miss Smith'.

I was in the pub with my wife (And her brother) and we knew the owner of this 'Gay' pub - he certainly wasn't 'Gay' in any shape or form ! They used to sell 'Gay Londoner' behind the bar and they had 'Drag' acts on stage.Went in there a few times and got to know a few of the regulars who were charming chaps.

All I can say is that in the Premier league we will get shown up as homophobic in the press before you can say "**** hitting the fan"
