Losing is a habit that's hard to break cup or league. You cant turn it on or off...

So far we have overspent on one player in this window who will be out for some time. I think that's a warning against wasting any more money and ending up like QPR.

Parish is being sensible there at least. He knows we are heading down almost certainly.

Administrations aside, not sure I can remember us being in such a bad position. Yes, we've fought off relegation in the Championship but we had players who were playing for the shirt and some team spirit but this mob we've got now?!

The team of the early 80's takes some beating.
If it wasn't systematically falling apart then Venables played his part in ripping it apart.
And we ended up with Mullery!

could be wrong, but it seems to me, that the players dont wanna play for the manager.
if thats the case, and theyre pining for mildew, maybe they should just f*** off. cos not playing for the manager, means not playing for the fans.
id rather play a load of youngsters who wanna prove themselves, rather than sulky overpaid prima donnas.

I don't think so .... it's a confidence issue for the TEAM as well as the need to make our defence more solid. That will improve with a few new faces in the SQUAD and a couple of wins under our belt.

My worry has always been that we took too long to move on Pardew.

hes gotta be sacked before he takes us down, and spunks a load ofcash whilst hes at it.

it would be worth taking the hit on paying up his contract.

I have made it clear, repeatedly, I didn't want him. I just find it odd that you were all for more time for AP after an entire year of bad results, but want Sam out already.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

He one thing you could not accuse the players of before was playing for the manager. Or at least doing a damn good job of hiding it if they weren't.

SA has said too many times about how bad the situation is and worse, said / inferred that the players aren't good enough. A good manager will get the players playing for him. I am not sure Allardyce has managed that yet.

However last week showed promise and today wasn't as bad as the score suggests. This time next week we need to have collected at least 4 points if we are going to stay up.

Just watched the highlights on BBC website. Man City clearly looked the better side but a couple of key points :-

1. Toure was very lucky on stay on the pitch, having been booked already and then pushing Mutch when he was away from him.

2. Although they were good through balls for the first two goals, it appeared we were ball watching instead of watching the runners.

Good points. Let's hope Soton make a better go of it against Swansea on Tues. With them and Bournemouth not playing this weekend going to be a tough week. COYP !!!

you're right in not installing a new manager sooner. this was my worry, that we're running out of games.
i backed the players for a long time, but it seems now, that theyre not bothered. confidence and fitness is rock bottom, i agree. but that isnt fight. not one manager in the world can coach that. it has to come from within. and i havent seen that in this squad for a long long time.

Based on your experience of coaching professional football teams? Thought not.

Professional athletes mate. Its marginal gains at their levels of fitness. Its all they do all week. 5 weeks is plenty of time at their level to make an improvement. I have a more than reasonable understanding of anatomy and physiology thanks having undertaken advanced medical training. Move on from the Pardew thing its boring.
