as i said in my post, it was one of his better games but no, I don't rate him. Too frequently he makes the wrong decisions either costing the team goals or at worst leaving them unsettled. I couldn't care less whether he spills something low down or high up, he's still spilling it rather than keeping hold of it. One italian paper puts him in the team of the week but no UK sports article did - who's right/wrong there then? taking ALL the crosses he came for is all a bit subjective. If he only came for one, what did he do with the rest? Left them to the defence as he didn't think he'd get there before an attacker. No use coming off your line if you're not sure you're going to get there otherwise you leave an empty goal. No keeper is going to come for every cross into the box.

Have you actually seen any games? Hennessey often comes for crosses and takes them cleanly. Sometimes he stays back - depends on whether he thinks he can get there or not, same as any keeper. Errr...Costas goal v Chelsea? Did he come for that? Ask Damo what he thought....

To be honest cpj I think half of Waynes trouble is he stands there like a wet sheet flapping in the wind most of the time and cannot make an instant decision when the ball is coming near him. He just does not have the speed between his ears to be a shot stopper. I admit he made some good saves in our last match but as the media and commentators said they were normal average stops so nothing special plus that's what a goalkeeper is paid to do. What I cannot understand that when he let the last gasp goal in he just sat down where if he had stood tall he might have stopped it. At least Jules would have had a good go at putting the ball over the bar and not just sit down!
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

We have too many keepers. What we need are: left back
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Maybe so, BUT a Premier league keeper should have come for the cross, if it meant he cleaned out costa, so be it..he just stood and watched....result..easy header for Costa..

He spilled the ball four times, this doesn't demonstrate good handling. I appreciate the people supporting Wayne, I don't particularly understand it, but hey ho. Let's be honest we have been spoilt in the past with the quality of our keepers. Please note this is not a "put Speroni back in goal" thread, the majority realise this is a department we are lacking in.

To be fair, I did say in a post earlier today that all 3 of our keepers have their pros and cons. However, as others have said, there are more pressing demands on our money at present than replacing the keeper. Perhaps we can look at that again in the summer when we know where we are. Susmik - no keeper would have stopped that shot on Saturday, a rising shot blasted from 6 yards.

Agreed - he does not seem to have speed of thought and when he comes for the ball (The West Ham game) he is doing it with a complete lack of conviction.
