It was incredible, but it got national press coverage and with all due respect to Charlton they're not a club that traditionally gets the benefit of national exposure very often. Now most football people know about Charlton's morass

Oh and I'm not saying Pardew is as toxic for your club as Duchatelet is for theirs, but it shows that fans still have a voice, whether they've paid up for season tickets or not.

I'm not sure I'd want press coverage about being a hostile bunch of fans that boo out a manager after a poor run. It hardly advertises us as a great place to manager for future high profile managers.

Mere survival is not the limit that a club that is ridiculously wealthy should be aiming for. We're never going to be winning the league, or getting into the Champions League or anything. But we can at least try and get in the top half, or maybe even have a go at the cups? Maybe, given the frankly shocking standard of players he had at his disposal we could have tried to play football more enjoyable than that employed by Tony Pulis and Sam Allardyce.

As for calling a respected manager a few things. It's not like Mourinho, Wenger and Ferguson etc have done that is it? I've never heard of any of them demanding a respected manager "Shut your noise you f***ing old c***". Have they headbutted a player? I cannot believe you're trying to defend that kind of behaviour, mind you.

You didn't even succeed in having him sacked. He walked out on you, and it's no surprise to anyone why.
either we forced him out, or we didn't. Which is it?

Couple of things;

a) Being angry at the run that Pardew has taken you on should be viewed as legitimate cause for complaint.
b) If the package, the project and the players are right a good manager wouldn't give a toss if the old manager was disliked, especially if that's the exception rather than the norm
c) Why do you care about high profile manager? The right man may be a 1st team coach under Tuchel? I know it's Championship, but Wagner has made big changes at Huddersfield and they've gone from relegation candidates to outsiders for promotion.

I dunno really, I am just arguing for the sake of it now!

Manager of the year for mere survival?

Your fans are deluded. CL and winning trophies is not a realistic demand a club like Newcastle can make. You punched above your weight with Sir Bobby like Leeds did at the time, and look where they are and have been since.

Funny that he had a go at the cups straight away with us though, in a smaller club. Perhaps it was because he wasn't getting abused all the time?

I've seen those managers say similar things plenty of times, and that's without knowing what they're saying in their native tongue. You don't think Benitez said the odd thing to Ferguson during their spats?

You didn't succeed in having him sacked (remember what your little signs said), he got a better offer.

No, he won manager of the year for finishing 5th.

1) Love to see evidence for those demands? I've certainly not heard anyone demanding Champions League or Trophies since Robson's era.
2)We maybe did punch above our weight, but we had ambitions and the manager/players to chase those ambitions.
3)No idea what the relevance of Leeds' finance-lead collapse is, but I'm happy to hear it.

Funny that he had a go at the cups straight away with us though, in a smaller club. Perhaps it was because he wasn't getting abused all the time? Probably more to do with the teams he fielded , the message from on high encouraging him to have a go and the fixtures you endured/enjoyed.

I've seen those managers say similar things plenty of times, and that's without knowing what they're saying in their native tongue. You don't think Benitez said the odd thing to Ferguson during their spats?
You've seen them say it have you? Great, lets have the quotes then. I mean, I'm sure you can remember what was said. Pardew's not even as famous as those you've mentioned and everyone remembers the vile abuse he gave Pellegrini. I don't mind if the translation is a little shonky, I'll get the jist.

You didn't succeed in having him sacked (remember what your little signs said), he got a better offer.
We wanted him replaced, but "ReplacePardew.com" doesn't have the same punch to it, does it?

What any of these attempts to insult my club has to do with Pardew's form at Crystal Palace is a mystery, but I fear you'd rather denigrate another club, rather than explain why you're defending Pardew's character/performance. Probably because you can rely on the crutch of cliche, ad hominem attacks, strawman arguments and any other logical fallacy you care to lean on.

He shouldn't have been employed 2nd time round. It was an ill-thought out ploy to get the fans onside asap. Might have worked if he was given an ambassadorial/DoF role, rather than management.

He couldn't have done worse as DoF than Wise did.

I just looked up Pardew's stats at Newcastle - his second worse win ratio at 39% after Charlton at 31%. He's at 43% win ratio here - the best we've had for a while. So what I will concede is that Pardew's record at Newcastle was not great but it was not relegation standard - more like lower mid-table kind of standard. I guess after a few years lower mid-table does seem a little boring for a team as big as the Toon.

Where's the attempted insults?

Why are you bothering to come on a message board to try and get us to agree with Newcastle fan's opinions of Pardew? After 1 game of the season when the transfers haven't even been finished.

I don't care what Newcastle think of him. But the desperation to hear that they were right to harangue him for christ knows how long reeks.
