I once saw Danny Butterfield on a train at Beckenham Junction after a night game.against Wolves. I knew it was him as he still had his Palace shirt on and a match ball under his arm, which was a bit strange but then I thought he was maybe in a hurry to get home to watch something on TV and had realised he had forgotten to record it! Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Back in the early 80s I was travelling back on the train from a game up North, Manchester I think. The players were in the buffet car having a beer, no suprise there. It did suprise when Paul Hinshelwood sparked up a fag though. I wondered how much faster he would be if he didn't smoke.

In December 1983 I travelled back from a dreary defeat at Swansea sat with Alan Mullery and his coaches whilst the team struggled to play the game where each player has to come up with the names of a boy girl flower fruit country town animal and bird beginning with a specific letter. The letter V seemed to have Vince Hilaire stumped.

Non train team travel: Play off final 2nd leg v Blackburn Rovers whose directors and injured players coach was crawling along Leigham Court Road Streatham. Door opens and wearing my Palace top I'm asked for directions to Selhurst. Brief exchange whereupon I'm invited aboard to direct the driver

I saw a train once, near Shipston in Warwickshire. Which was strange as it was a Wednesday. I rang my friend from red phone box, as was the fashion back then, and I said "I've just seen a train", and he said "Did you?" and I said "Yes", and he said "On a Wednesday?" And I said "Yes". And we laughed and laughed because it was so funny.

I once saw a train too, although it wasn't on a Wednesday. I'm not quite sure what day it was, but definitely not a Wednesday. It was blue and red, travelling quite quickly across a level crossing, then one looking exactly the same went the other way. The barriers went up and I drove on.

On second thoughts, it may have been a Wednesday.

I once travelled from victoria to crawley with then girlfriend both very pissed and both fell asleep.

I woke up with a start and jumped out forgetting i was with aforementioned female. Unfortunately it was a place called horley. I walked three times round a roundabout trying to figure out where i was before the police picked me up and then actually drove me home!

There i met aforementioned female who was arriving at the same time in a taxi. She had slept through to haywards heath.

Happy days.

I'm not sure if I've ever been through Shipston on a train but I often travel on a train on Wednesdays so I may have been on the one you saw. Had it been a Sunday I wouldn't have been on it. I never go on trains on a Sunday

I once saw Bob Mortimer from "Vic and Bob" the comedy duo( I think he is the "Bob" part tho' not 100% sure). We were on the fun day out at Bodiam train station when they had a Thomas the Tank steam engine as special guest. We shared a carriage together and it was a lovely sunny day so we had the window open and as we went through a tunnel, steam engulfed us. Next time I might take the kids as it was fun! Not seen Bob since but did meet Vic Reeves from "Vic and......... Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Southern Region ran a couple of Double Deck trains on the Dartford lines in the 50's, they were crap but lasted into the 60's but I remember dragging my Mum onto one between London Bridge and New Cross...it was really hard to get upstairs and the view was practicly non-existant. Only did that the once.

Somewhere between Avignon and Portbou earlier today. Pyrenees in the distance. Took the slow train to Barcelona. 7 hours, but was well worth it. Thoroughly recommend this interrail malarkey. Got quite a few shots on French trains the past few days!
