All the rules get applied the same to everyone.....Like feck they do. I'm not one who believes celebrities have to be standard carriers for society. This should blow over and the BBC should arrange for a sensible transition for the show that pleases its fans.

Edited by legaleagle (15 Mar 2015 9.07pm) Two blokes having a row at work is only ''high profile'' due to the sleb culture we have now unfortunately adopted and it seems that you too are in a landing net, going around in circles with a hook sticking out of your lip. EDIT: Your words on another thread this evening 'legal'. Just an observation.

Thanks for the compliment.I take your general point, though the example to millions bit had nothing whatsoever to do with petitions etc.Fact is in our culture today a C list sleb like Clarkson is looked at as a role model by many, however naff that is,including lots of kids.He craved the media spotlight so he (and his admirers) can't complain at the downside. If that happened where I work (or within the media companies that I've worked with),I suspect whomever did it would be out, particularly if they were already on a "final warning" and it would definitely be a big deal within the workplace with those in charge feeling they had to act.Don't see any reason for it to be different cause its a popular sleb who has a "blokey" image. If no one you know thinks punching someone in the face at work for no good reason is a big deal,so be it.Just glad I don't work with you or them Edited by legaleagle (16 Mar 2015 12.16am)

Edited by cornwalls palace (15 Mar 2015 8.18pm) But they had arranged hot food in the restaurant - trouble was Clarkson, May & Hammond stayed in a pub for over 3 hours (on the licence payers!) before getting the helicopter to hotel. By the time they arrived the chef had gone home. All that was left was the cold menu

This was in their own time and after they'd finished filming. Are you saying they claimed their pub spending against expenses?

Perhaps the BBC should consider making Clarkson go on an anger management course as a bit of a face saving exercise Perhaps the BBC would be better employed to keep its execs mouths shut from making bizarre comparisons between Clarkson and Savile and this Oison Tymond fellas position as comparable to one of Saviles rape victims

The whole thing is silly. It's like the outrage over the Russell Brand incident. It is almost as though the people of Britain (same in the US too), have become a 21st century version of Mary Whitehouse. So many people seem to want desperately to be offended by something, anything. Then they form an online vigilante mob and administer "justice". There's my tuppenceworth.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

Clarkson is a weapon, he knows it, he plays up to it, he's made millions with it. Bloody ridiculous furore over nothing. Fire the imbecile and move on.

Imagine actually giving a sh*t about this.
If it is true that he reported himself to the BBC, it makes it more interesting as we wonder why he would do so if the producer (presumably) wasn't going to make a complaint. Good piece about him and Chelsea. [Link] It's nothing more than the ridiculous celebrity infatuation that is sweeping this country. As I said, ridiculous.
Bloke happens to be both mate and constituent of PM, and bloke works for national broadcaster. The level of interest is definitely just a by-product of z list celebs & reality TV, or the most watched programme in the world. I can't decide... Edited by Stuk (13 Mar 2015 3.55pm) I'd rather my PM dealt with issues that concern the nation, not some middle aged mate of his who slapped someone. You can't do both, no? He was asked a question about it and answered. He didn't initiate the Clarkson talk.
