the french lige was once one of the top 4 but not now because of the wage cap ,where they have lost alot of there best players ,half the teams are championship standard and its nowhere as competative as this league .and i did not say glenn was better than gomis ,lighten up ,i only want the best for palace and this man in my opinon is not what we want

By the way there isn't a salary cap in France what you are referring to is a super high tax rate for high earners.

nearly the same thing which stops the top players playing there

gomis was partnered with lacazette at lyon for the last 3 seasons and scored 20+ in all comps each time. so far his prem play has been the final 20 odd of a match as a lone striker. remy, giroud and sakho have all shown they can make the transition.

with it being january and:

"Crystal Palace, West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle all credited with an interest in his services."

9m makes sense. spurs match out of the way then we can see some signings.

The French Ligue 1 has never been one of the top 4 Leagues in Europe, it has always been The Premier, La Liga, Serie A, and The Bundesliga, followed by the French Ligue 1, it is one of the top producers of football talent, there are many top quality player coming from the French Ligue 1 conveyor belt.

The top 10 Leagues in Europe are the above 5, The Championship, the Greek, the Turkish, the Portuguese, and our Dutch League a very very poor 10th.
The Belgian League is improving fast and could pass us in 10th place in a couple of years, the rest including the SPL are way behind, and not really at the races.

@Sg Bilko
The leagues are ranked like this... La Liga, Premiership, Bundesliga, Serie A, Liga Sagres (Portugal), Ligue 1, Russia Premiership, Ukrainian Premiership, Eredivise then Belgia Pro League
[Link]

And don't take it bad but the Championship is a very entertaining league but its nearer the Belgian Pro League and the Swiss 1st division than the portuguese league

I don't care how their ranked, because clearly those ranking are a joke, those are my personal assessments from my coaching and scouting all over Europe over many years.
At this moment the strongest league is easily the Bundesliga, followed by La Liga, then the Premier, and the at the moment there's nothing to choose between Serie A and Ligue 1, as Serie A is suffering a blip with clubs like Sampdoria, AC Milan and Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Udinese, Torino, and Verona all struggling.

I spent 5 years scouting in the old Eastern Blok and no way are the Russia, and Ukrainian, leagues in the top 10, apart from 2 clubs Zenit St P, and CSKA the Russian league is very weak, as is the Ukrainian league the only clubs of note are Metalist, Shakhtar, and maybe Dynamo Kiev.

I do not judge a league by it's results in European competitions, I judge them by the strength in depth of the clubs in their leagues, and down to about Fulham in 17th place would more than hold their own in the Dutch and Belgium Leagues where as Ajax, PSV, would struggle over a whole season to finish in the top 5 or 6 places in the Championship, people mistakenly under estimate the strength of the Championship it's a very strong and competitive League.

Having been in the game all my working life I think I'm entitled to be a know all, which better than being a know nothing.

Yes I do a goal average of 1 in 2.8 games is good, in the right hands and with the right system he is deadly in and around the penalty area, but like all strikers he needs the right service.
