Do you think George Burley by taking the Palace job was on a hiding to nothing,in much the same way Alan Smith was the last time we came out of administration? Decimated squad,no coaching staff, embargo,it would take one hell of a manager to turn it all around in six months.
Brilliant!! This guy is quality!!

Hello Steve Questions over GB's replacement aside, could you give any indication as to the board's plans for the club - short term (next 12 months) and longer term - in respect of playing staff as well as the mangerial appointment? I ask this because I'm sure that many fans will look at the new man coming in, and read between the lines as to whether that man is likely to be a good short term appointment but not a long term one, or one who may take a little longer to rebuild the side for longer term gain - and in the same vein, the rumoured signing of Steffen Iversen will be looked at and probably questions asked because at 34, I assume he will be unlikely to be considered a long-term option. Many thanks for your time.

Hi Steve, just wondering whether Dougie will definately only be in charge temporarily/for the Preston game or whether there is the possibility of him being offered the job permanently/to the end of the season based on results. Otherwise, happy new year, and well done on securing Iverson,an excellent signing in my opinion.

Was it Burley's idea to sell Alan Lee and Johnny Ertl Steve? Wasnt Johnny Ertl's contract ran out? In terms of a decimated squad I was under the impression alot of players contracts were set to expire and with the uncertainty at the time before CPFC2010 and Burley had control they opted to sign for someone else because they were free to do so!

We have a large squad for this level, where not Chelsea and in the premiership. Yes we maybe short in some areas, but CPFC have put money down to keep Speroni, Ambrose and Mccarthey. Them 3 will cost us probably as much as half of Scunnys squad. The problem is it just hasn't worked out with George and the motivation when the dressing goes had also gone as well.

The point SP is making is that George Burley had ample opportunity to build the squad over the summer and through loans and his players simply have not cut it. If Warnock had been given the same challenge we would be at least mid-table by now (and he could have done it entirely with frees) . I know this may seem a fairly bold statement but Burley's players were all about shifting the style but there are not enough players who are experienced mentally and physically for this division.
