Newcastle have now signed Wilson and Fraser and have now agreed a fee for Jamal Lewis who Liverpool wanted.
All three of those would have made Palace stronger.
Villa are likely to have Watkins and are supposedly trying for Behnrama too.
I think those two clubs will be stronger for the new season.
There’s another month of the window but I don’t want us to get left behind and we need to ensure we can compete.
Despite warnings about finances we’re still seeing some hefty fees thrown around and the usual bargain basement shopping and leftovers are unlikely to be make us more competitive.

I know it doesn't work like this, but NFC are essentially signing three players who were relegated last season, one of whom struggled to score and one who was inconsistent and didn't play as much as normal. Wilson has only scored double figures once in 5 premier league seasons and soon turns 29. Newcastle will be banking on Wilson and Fraser combining like 2018/2019, but they could equally both end up failing like last season. I imagine both will be picking up high salaries too.

Of the three Jamal Lewis is the one I wish we could have got, especially if PvA's recent comments about wanting to return to the Netherlands mean he'll be gone within a year. I like Tyrick, but I still think he needs a year out on loan to improve his game as he still looks very raw.

That's assuming that they'll make it back. I have my doubts about Cahill and Tomkins, and as for Sakho, the sooner he's shipped out to Ligue 1 the better for our finances.

We are thin on the ground in defence and attack. All we've got is a midfield and a keeper.

Bella Katchop.
But I was referring to the "best striker in the world" he apparently kept out. Who was that and in what game?

Newcastle have done good business today. That makes them significantly stronger imo. They struggled to score goals an hey presto the following season they sign a proven goal scorer and provider (who will also chip in with goals too)!

After three seasons we’ve failed to address the glaring absence of a goal scorer. Good signings elsewhere in the team but not the one thing we’re in desperate need of!
Not having that priority position sorted for the start of the season is pi** poor and I just hope we don’t drop points at the start of the campaign as a result.

Agreed... It is disgraceful enough not getting this issue sorted in the numerous windows weve had in the last 2 seasons... The possibility of starting a 3rd season without addressing the problem is mind boggling...

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Although £20m for Callum Wilson on lengthy expensive contract is not necessarily good business when you look at his injury record and recent form.
However why they get these deals done quickly whereas we fanny about is an issue we need to address.

It maybe directly proportional to the respective clubs bank balances!

Fear not everyone. All will be good in the end. We’ll sign Batshuayi and loan Gallagher and Brewster.

We scored 31 goals last season down from 60 the season before .. and still no Striker signed with the season starting in a few days.

Have seen a lot of comments on the site saying how we should persevere with Tekkers and Wickham ( is he still injured/alive or furloughed) which are either frankly delusional or ghost written by Sp n Dougie.

If a late bid comes in for Wilf .... we really up s creek without a paddle .

We don’t seem able to close deals.
Not just now but for the last few windows.
We’re clearly in for players, but don’t seem able to get them over the line.
This would indicate there is a fundamental problem with our approach .
Maybe a clue is in our approach for Eze.
We supposedly bid £8m initially but ended up reportedly paying double that figure.
He didn’t become twice the player in a couple of weeks so clearly we were not realistic in our initial approach.
If we are similarly putting in unrealistic bids for other players it’s no surprise that they may end up elsewhere.
I’m not advocating spending ridiculous sums, just having a realistic approach.
