Dyche is a stickler for 4-4-2....the few times he tried just one up front resulted in a 4-0 thrashing at West Brom and 3-1 at Soton. He'd improve any team defensively - but don't expect to dominate possession. Nearly every game - even when we won the Championship last season - we hardly ever had 50% possession.

Dyche has worked alonside Ian Woan and Tony Loughlan at both Watford and Burnley. IF he was appointed one would think he would want these two chaps to work with him, which could of course signal the end of Sammy Lee.

The general feeling among a lot of Burnley fans was that we struggled quite a bit in the second half of the season - largely down to Dyche's inflexible tactics away from home - not trying to seize the initiative at places like Hull, Sunderland, Boro and Swansea. Away, we generally performed better against the top 6. I'm still mystified why Allardyce decided to leave? Not enough funds promised this summer?

I'd rather we went for a continental manager for once who can really progress a team with a lot of quality and give us something new but I think Dyche is most likely now. It's underwhelming and a few on the Burnley forum have been mentioning how he's been unable to integrate flair players (Defour etc.) that don't fit into his rigid system, I fear Zaha will stagnate under Dyche. Overall I can't say I'd be too upset as I think he will definitely be a safe pair of hands and will get us doing the basics right but I just think it's a shame we aren't looking with a bit more ambition, especially with the players we have. It's almost as if the Pardew debacle has discouraged Parish from trying something a bit more expansive, if only he and others could see the problem with trying to progress under Pardew was that the manager was tactically clueless - there are many other options out there who can progress our style whilst still maintaining our foundations and organisation, and without the side effects of Pardew. I suppose a comfortable season will do though, I'm fairly confident we won't be relegated under him. That sums it up for me - uninspiring and flirting with the wrong end of the table again.

This is a good article on Burnley defensive qualities. We could do with some defensive coaching like this. I think we are better counter attacking team than Burnley and sorting out the back line would really help next season.

So 5 million for a squad player you don't rate much would be normal, but 5 million for a manager is all of sudden out of the question? Originally posted by black eagle.
I read somewhere thee other day that Dyche release clause goes up from £1 million to £5 million from June the 1st. Maybe Lancy claret can confirm this. If true we not paying £5 million for Dyche surely.

I'm not getting involved in all this manager business. All I will say is that I overheard a chap last night saying that when one considers what Steve has said about the type of manager he would like (And all this 'Transition' under Pardew etc etc )then Dyche fits the bill. I'll leave it at that. Surely you just did???

Total and utter hogwash of course. All I did was pass on what I overheard last night and I can totally understand where this chap is coming from. Let's get back to the subject matter instead of all this 'Anti-Willo' 24-carat tosh. Edited by Willo (02 Jun 2017 9.26am)
