However, I digress, how brave of Jezza to hold a rally in an area of high minority population, and not the angry sort of minority, either. One wonders why he isn't holding such rallies in places like Stoke or Hartlepool, where the people voted almost 4-to-1 in some places for Brexit? Maybe it's because the current Labour leadership think of the white working class as being a bit 'eurggh' and don't really want to be associated with them? Edited by matt_himself (16 May 2017 7.47am)

Edited by matt_himself (16 May 2017 7.47am) Yep, the modern day Labour party don't really like or represent the typical British working class anymore. Emily Thornberry and the 'white van gate' situation in 2014 tells you all you need to know about what they think of them. The fact is that she's now the 'acceptable face' of the Labour party and represents them on TV....what is she now, shadow foreign minister? The modern day Labour party deserve every bit of rejection they get from the working class......Mostly chattering class-like, well intentioned but hypocritical snobs.

I don't believe the polls. I think Labour are going to get absolutely humped, all the indicators (economic competence, leadership, Scotland) point to a landslide victory for the Conservatives. Don't think they'll be far off a three-figure majority.

See what does this even mean? I'm guessing by 'typical' you mean 'white', yes? Corbyn appears to be appealing to the BME working class on a near unprecedented level, a sizeable group of the modern working class, and a group which has typically been disenfranchised because of successive government policies. But also look at his rallies, and listen to the people interviewed at them. These are in places like York, Leeds, Leicester, not exactly bourgeois metropolitan havens. He's getting thousands turning up. Who was the last politician in this country who could get thousands for a rally in places like that?

That is great for our democracy. Let's not forget we live in a country where most in poverty are in work. Pledges to increase the minimum wage, build new council homes, and reduce the tax burden on the poorest are such a refreshing change to the past 7 years. Labour are finally returning to their roots as a party for the working classes.

No doubt at all who is coming across best on the 'hustings' that is JC who seems to be relishing the people pressure whereas May positively winces at any form of human contact. Who would ever have thought a tory PM would be so desperate as to offer council house building and workers rights. I don't think the voters believe any of it as stupid as they are.

So you are suggesting that only the Tories make give away pledges in their Manifestos? Grow up.

And that is exactly why Labour are where they are, the last two elections, the voters fault. Frankly it is pathetic
