This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave I was just thinking, what if the stadium had several nice flats built in? maybe two over looked the pitch... would anyone be interested in that and has it been done?

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave The Riverside stand which Fulham have permission for includes a few built in flats (2 or 4?) however they don't overlook the pitch, they face the river Thames Bolton and Coventry have a hotel built in to their ground, and the rooms double as exec boxes. I've been in a box at Coventry and its weird because it has an en suite bathroom and a fold down bed in a huge cupboard!

I was just thinking, what if the stadium had several nice flats built in? maybe two over looked the pitch... would anyone be interested in that and has it been done? The issue under discussion isn't replacement housing it concerns the infrastructure and transport improvements we're required to fund as part of getting the plans signed off. For that read we want to pay for less than we're being asked to so prepare for a Sainsbury's-style stand off. In view of where Selhurst Park is located, and the need to demolish existing housing, we were quite fortunate to get draft approval for such a huge stand. Perhaps there will come a day when the club will recognise when they've got a good deal and stop trying to chisel every last farthing out of everything.

I know Narch have a hotel with windows overlooking the pitch. (I remember a Pat Butcher look-a-likey, getting some chants sung at her). Flats with a pitch view would be quite pricey and without gardens, and therefore not really a replacement for Woodesson Close (sp)

This is always the way with Planning with large projects. Developers quibble over everything with Regulators, not realising the additional cost/delay that causes.

I take it that was the "fantasy" bit?

If I was CPFC, knowing what I know, I would hold out on paying what the council wants. The council is so desperate for things like Westfield and CPFC in the Borough that they will cave. The stories I've heard about how they've caved for Westfield and other projects makes you wonder how half these guys get out of bed in the morning let alone run the borough.

The stories I've heard about how they've caved for Westfield and other projects makes you wonder how half these guys get out of bed in the morning let alone run the borough. Time will tell. When the club start making noises about "possible" timescale slippages, it's safe to read that as "will be". If building work doesn't start at the end of this season then there will inevitably be a doubt over whether it will start at all. We are relying on US investment for this and who knows how long their commitment will last if results slip on and off the pitch. Our best chance of getting this done is whilst we are still in the PL, notwithstanding the assurances from the club that plans won't be affected by relegation. As for the council being "desperate for things like...CPFC in the Borough", we're not going anywhere, new stand or not. Does anyone seriously think we'll pack up and move elsewhere? Not a chance.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave This post has been merged from a topic called 'The new stand - delays and rumours?' by bexleydave Anybody heard anything? I think the new stand is absolutely crucial to us finally establishing ourselves as a top rank club that can attract quality players - news of delays is very disappointing, I'm a Parrish backer but any b*ggering about with this and my loyalty will be severely tested, the initial plan for a move to Crystal Palace Park was pure PR with no substance, the American backing was for the building of the new stand one assumes, but I really hope there is no backtracking and we're not being sweet talked bcos they're getting cold feet. Delays reported in the press, rumours sifting through that these are long term delays. Anyone got wind of what's going on?
