Gallagher on loan. Part ex McCarthy for Edouard, Bella-Kotchap, Flynn Downes. Offload Sakho, Benteke and Wickham, good window. Simples. We are never gonna afford Edouard. We need to keep Benteke even if we buy a striker because he and Wickham are currently the only recognised strikers in the club. We need cover should whoever we sign get injured or we are back to playing a winger out of position. Gallagher would use up our only loan spot from Chelsea and Batshuayi is a better option for us. Sakho I would have agreed before, but we have 2 long term injuries at CB and currently just have Kelly, Dann and Kouyate fit. We need the cover, our squad is still tiny. Bella-Kotchup and Downes would be great but they are not solutions for now, I’d be trying to get Downes a loan to the championship if we get him, I’d want him to continue his development week in week out.

The cost of having Benteke and Sakho as back ups is something we cannot really afford. Together with Meyer’s wages, and Wickham, who quite frankly was not good enough for Sheffield Wednesday, is the reason we cannot afford to bring in someone like Edouard. None of them good enough for the starting 11 week in week out. And while I admire your enthusiasm for Batshuayi, he is not suddenly going to improve on his form at Chelsea, which again was below par. I would rather have Jordan starting than Batshuayi in terms of all round contribution.

With minimal outlay it’s worth the investment in my opinion. But the point I’m making is that it’s not a solution for this season whatsoever and won’t make or break this window. Gribbo while I agree that Benteke and Sakho are not worth it as backups, not having any backups is a far worse option. If we could have shifted them both and replaced them with quality then that would of course be ideal, but we can’t, so we need to keep them until such a time as we are ready to replace them.

Newcastle have now signed Wilson and Fraser and have now agreed a fee for Jamal Lewis who Liverpool wanted.

Beginning to look like no one else in new before the season starts, and that we'll be waiting for the last few days of the transfer window. As Ferguson and Eze are injured it means we seem to be starting with the same few that finished so badly last year. Anyone optimistic for the beginning of the season? Really thought we'd have another striker in by now. Why do we always leave it so late to try and address it?

Both Ferguson and Eze are recovering and hopefully will be ready to go into the first team squad by the end of aseptember? It looked at one stage that Fraser would sign for Palace, but that one got away. It does look grim to begin with but I hope that a striker will materialise before the end of the transfer window, fingers crossed

As I see it, SP wants to address the age of the squad and the 2 recent signings do that. If a couple of our own products can step up as Mitchell has, that would be perfect. Newcastle, Everton etc. they may bin over 100 millions on people, but really does it get them anywhere?

Although the season starts very soon, the window doesn't close until 5th October. So we have a little while longer to endure, sorry I mean sort things out. If we were to get in couple this week - even loans (ie. Gallagher + 1 other), and Eze was fit for season start, then it would not be too bad at all. Southampton isn't a bad opener. If we managed a draw, then it's an improvement on previous seasons against them at Selhurst. Every week that goes past is a week nearer getting some of these injured players back.
