I'd rather we went for a continental manager for once who can really progress a team with a lot of quality and give us something new but I think Dyche is most likely now. It's underwhelming and a few on the Burnley forum have been mentioning how he's been unable to integrate flair players (Defour etc.) that don't fit into his rigid system, I fear Zaha will stagnate under Dyche. Overall I can't say I'd be too upset as I think he will definitely be a safe pair of hands and will get us doing the basics right but I just think it's a shame we aren't looking with a bit more ambition, especially with the players we have. It's almost as if the Pardew debacle has discouraged Parish from trying something a bit more expansive, if only he and others could see the problem with trying to progress under Pardew was that the manager was tactically clueless - there are many other options out there who can progress our style whilst still maintaining our foundations and organisation, and without the side effects of Pardew. I suppose a comfortable season will do though, I'm fairly confident we won't be relegated under him.
We're the Arthur over ere! |

He might be available after Fletcher signing for Stoke Originally posted by Rudi Hedman
Maybe some of us should remember which prem club models we wanted to follow a few years ago. No, not Fulham built on Fayed's fortunes. Stoke, anyone? Dyche isn't that much different in attractiveness to Pulis. Now I don't particularly 'want' Dyche but I can see why it might be him, which is why I put money on him a week ago at 8/1. I'm happy to not win the money but happier to see our club establish ourselves for many years in the top division.

He is club and team skipper, a lot of his family live in the area and just last week expressed his desire to stay at Burnley next season. Thanks for your input Lancy. What is the feeling "up north" about the prospect of this happening? if it does who would you like to succeed SD? Is it true about £1m release clause?

I'm not getting involved in all this manager business. All I will say is that I overheard a chap last night saying that when one considers what Steve has said about the type of manager he would like (And all this 'Transition' under Pardew etc etc )then Dyche fits the bill. I'll leave it at that.

Dyche seems the logical appointment, especially now the suggestion is he wants the job.

I read somewhere thee other day that Dyche release clause goes up from £1 million to £5 million from June the 1st. Maybe Lancy claret can confirm this. If true we not paying £5 million for Dyche surely.

Whilst Dyche wouldn't be my preference he does seem to fit SP's brief. He's always struck me as a manager who is looking to learn & develop himself & I wonder whether he would be prepared to come to Palace & work with our existing backroom team. He could do a lot worse than having Sammy & co alongside him & we've already witnessed the impact they've had on our squad. We've already shown that, with a solid defensive structure in place, we can win more games as our front 3 will always get goals - something he's not really had at Burnley. It could be the making of both him & CPFC.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

But does seem to use 4-4-2 which Palace are not really set up to do, owing to our shortage of strikers apart from Benteke

I don't think there is any release clause of £5 million - maybe £1 million is correct. I DO know that Dyche has been promised major funds to strengthen this summer, but he was pretty appalling in the transfer market last season - Hendrick (£10 million) was a partial success but both Defour (£8 million) and Brady (£13 million) have been expensive flops so far with Johann Berg Gudmunnson (£3.5 million) a permanent sicknote. And the jury is still out on underwhelming signing Ashley Westwood (£5 million). Dyche has a rigid system which relies on the tracking back of George Boyd and Scott Arfield - Defour and Brady cannot/will not track back so are on the bench. If you do get Dyche, it will be interesting how he gets on with flair players like Zaha and Townsend - he likes his wingers tucked in narrow. He'd also expect Benteke to chase around like a blue-arsed fly

Pellegrino plays a 4-2-3-1 formation which suits us down to the ground. If Dyche wants us to play his preferred 4-4-2 then he would be trying to turn us into something we are not formation wise.something that Parish accused Pardew of trying to do.
