No it is not. It is the way a lot of people who may have an interest in this article speak. Remember, outside your parochial, right wing prejudice, the world largely trusts the BBC; and this will be downloaded in Nigeria where the media are less trusted. And they have the choice of pidgin, or standard English. There is a great deal of Little England thinking on here, but this takes the biscuit. This will have cost buttons to get the message to a wider audience So again, problem please? It's called the british broadcasting corporation, not the 'global help for people who don't trust their governments' corporation. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Jun 2022 3.20pm)

75 million people speak pidgin. If the BBC News site was in English and Pidgin only then there would be a valid point but being that it's translated into around 50 or more languages to be read across the world, I'm not so sure why this particular translation is quite so unfathomable.

Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Jun 2022 3.20pm) No he was right the first time, its pretty much our last bastion of 'soft power' globally. Being the de facto news source globally is genuinly important now that we have lost prominence on the world stage. Other countries know this too, which is why companies like Reuters and al Jazeera are pushed so hard. Being a scottish nationalist, I cannot describe in words how frustrated I get with the BBC, but it is a genuinely important service that we and the rest of the world would truly miss if we didn't have it

The rest of the world would miss it, however I would argue that a high percentage of those that are forced to pay for it wouldn’t. The rest of the world don’t give a damn about us as a country and make it pretty clear that is the case, so why are we so bothered about them. Maybe the BBC should start seeking revenue from elsewhere if they want to maintain a wide audience.

I suspect if any individual can only converse in this b****** form of English then reading is not a skill they possess anyway.
