The UK was part of the negotiation as it's still an EU member, so you will also enjoy the soy beans.

Don't eat them, that's for your soy boys.

We leave the EU next year, so in reality this deal with the EU isn't our deal and you are talking technicalities.

Still, we buy a few soy beans and the US buys lots of cars and components that the US car manufacturing companies need. That's a massive EU win but of course I expected those in denial to remain in denial. The EU moves on with a nice deal with the US and also 2 weeks ago a massive deal with Japan. The UK meanwhile is still talking about a tiddly border in Ireland.

Edited by europalace (29 Jul 2018 9.40am)

The point is the US already buys those cars and components. There is no increase for the EU so you are talking nonsense here. If in the future the EU manage to get to zero tariffs then that could be a win for both sides.

However, the US have been promised a shift in the trade balance. Hence Trump is the obvious winner.

There is reality and there is what you see in this situation.

As for the border question, that's what you get with remainers in charge. It's a tactic being used by the EU and nothing else. We should be leaving with 'no deal' and be done with it.

The EU, China Russia Canada etc. are not playing Trump's game.

Crude protectionism never worked before it just doesn't add up.

Trump can go and boil his head.

You don't understand as usual.

The US is almost self sufficient in resources. It has the ability to be self sufficient more than most countries. Trade is better for sure, however poor trade deals are just that.

All of these will come to heel or suffer economically and I'm going to enjoy your embarrassment and self deluded denial when they do take the knee.

The EU already has.

Oh and the US economy is booming.

Trump has his quarterly Trade Deficit down by 52 billion dollars.

He also has historically low unemployment numbers for African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and Women.

Private business investment has gone from 1.8 percent when he came into office to 9.4 percent.

The US economy growing by 4.1 percent.

How much is this being reported in the biased lefty media?

Well, you only have to read the thread title.

There is no point in canvassing here he is President of the USA.

Anybody can spend like there is no tomorrow and show a temporary boost we ought to know.

US debt 23 trillions and rising, and spending like water.

If it is great and booming etc then there is no need for trade tariffs against other countries, is there?

Protectionism, boom and bust, seen it all before it always ends in tears.

It's a reasonable point that normally I'd agree with.....However, the left and the media are obsessed with this US president....So your point is kinda moot.

The thread is about the lack of balance over this guy.....there's rational criticism and then there's 'Trump derangement'.

The progressives don't realise that they are partly why Trump was elected in the first place.

All reasonable criticisms.....but very weird coming from a far left supporter......Suddenly when it comes to Trump you're a fiscal conservative? All his spending plans were approved by the democrats....apart from his security and wall stuff...which hasn't passed yet.

A leader who allows poor trade deals is a poor leader.

Boom and bust is inevitable.....what matters is the general direction.

After all the crap from the left beforehand about Trump this guy shows them up for economic fools.

Only ''inevitable'' due to the actions of any given Central Bank.
Every boom is proceeded by a massive influx of funds (printed from thin-air) via a Central Bank and every bust follows a contraction of these funds (which has already begun).
As for the ''general direction'', it's obviously down, the simplest example being that one average wage used to be sufficient to provide for one average family. This is no longer the case due to the inflation (devaluation) associated with 'fiat-currency'.
Personal debt is at record levels meaning that not only is one average wage no longer sufficient but borrowing from tomorrow (credit) to pay for today is the norm for the majority. It has only taken a few decades for this change.

That aside, i believe that Trump's doing a good job.

Not worth starting a new thread but purely to 'balance the books' (or not?) re- Trump imprisoning illegal children because their illegal parents gave them no say in the matter.........

“There were ten times more air strikes in the covert war on terror during President Barack Obama’s presidency than under his predecessor, George W. Bush,” the Bureau report states. “Obama embraced the US drone programme, overseeing more strikes in his first year than Bush carried out during his entire presidency. A total of 563 strikes, largely by drones, targeted pakistan, Somalia and Yemen during Obama’s two terms, compared to 57 strikes under Bush. Between 384 and 807 civilians were killed in those countries, according to reports logged by the Bureau.”

Obomber has just received a second 'Peace Prize', the Ripple of hope.
'Tis a funny old world.

I know.....the distance between objective reporting and the BBC on Trump is night and day. I've given up putting in complaints about it at the BBC.

The organisation is politically riddled with the Guardian mindset and it needs to have its public funding revoked.

I read that article this morning and I don't see it as anti-Trump by the BBC. It's reporting what sections of the US press have done and it makes them sound like whining idiots. Why should someone you're all clearly biased against be nice to you? And you're still free to write what you want, he hasn't changed any laws on this.

The best line in the article is the one regarding the Wall Street Journal.
