You have no idea at all what Wickham could achieve, I think that in one or two games he showed what we could get if he gets match fit, I seem to remember him scoring 4 goals in two games last season, before he broke down again., and the header he scored against Watford in the semi final was one of the best headed goals of last season. Your opinion is no more educated than mine, the difference being I have faith in a player with all the right ticks in boxes to be a great prem striker for Palace, you do not. Edited by dannyh (26 Jul 2016 12.56pm) I think it was clear to see that everytime Wickham got a run of games under his belt he either created or scored goals. His hold up play was excellent and has a good touch for a big man. The only issue was just how stop start his season was last season. There is no reason to think that with a full season under him that he couldn't easily manage 15 goals a season. In the league he scored 5 goals in 15 starts and 6 sub appearances. Of those 15 starts he only played 90 minutes 6 times. 6 of his appearances he played 45 minutes or less after injury or suspension. Keep him injury free and I agree that he could be as effective for us as someone like Kane or Lukaku are for their teams.

That's probably because its previous owner (Sunderland), used to drive it on the other side of the road ( wing), did you see what I did their? F**k I'm good.

Wickham is a very good player when fit/run of games under his belt but he isn't as good as Kane. That doesn't mean he's s*** and I think he is a valuable member of the squad. We do, however, need to improve our squad hence the pursuit of Benteke/Berahino/Batshuayi etc. Surely that's all that needs to be said on this little sub-topic? Now, anyone seen Benteke buying some trainers in the Whitgift centre?

My point was that you don't and can't possibly predict the future of the player. Neither can I obviously, but match fitness is fifty percent of a players ability, just look at the title of this thread, Benteke pulled up trees for villa, had a good start to life with the bin dippers, hit a few injuries and was pony by the end of the season, and wasn't great for Belgium either. My post was he COULD be as good as Kane, not will be. I know enough about football to know a decent player when I see one, and IMO if Wickham stays injury free and gets the first 5-6 competitive games under his belt he will get 15-twenty goals and assist a damn site more than Kane, whose official assist figure for the season is ....One. Keep the faith. Edited by dannyh (26 Jul 2016 2.11pm)

Part of me wants us to sign him as I think he's mustard. The other part doesn't, as I will have to start playing Football Manager again. I haven't done that for years, and I don't think it's a coincidence that since I stopped I have advanced my career and had a happy relationship. But it would be worth risking those to manage Palace with our current squad + Benteke.
