Hamas still don’t believe that rapes and gang rapes happened even through the anti Jew BBC are reporting that the anti Jew UN are saying it happened. Belief and denial are very different things. It's hard for them to deny something their own fighters filmed and posted. Given that, an odd reaction from them and one that is unlikely to serve their purpose.

Hamas are really f***ing their own people over. They invaded and murdered civilians in the first place. Then they took hostages. Now they wont release those hostage to end the war and allow the free flow of aid. The other problem is that they wont learn from this its a vicious circle.

True, but I guess the Israeli government are f***ing their people over too. Would you want to be a normal Israeli now? Or even a Jew anywhere basically? They're now fair game for Islamic radicals and governments around the world will turn a blind eye. There are Israelis in my partner's family - one Zionist who lives near the settlements and the others are not happy at all and live abroad. They're disgusted with what's happening. But, in general, they all get tarred with the same brush.

Many diaspora jews quite understandably see most news items as whether those events are good or bad for the Jews. From the initial and justifiable sympathy felt worldwide, including in the Islamic world, this has turned to very bad for the Jews.

But Japan had not been beaten. It was an ultra nationalist state and would have continued to fight on. When the ammo ran out, old men and boys would have attacked machine gun wielding GIs with broken garden fences, frying pans and anything else that came to hand. Meanwhile, the women would continue to leap off cliffs, bridges and tall buildings. The US would have lost about as many who died in the Bombs, but the number of combatants and noncombatants who would have perished in the slaughter of defending to the last man would have been in the millions. Hitler applied the same policy but that eventually unraveled; but only after millions more had died. Japan had a very different culture and would have obeyed their God/Emperor to the bitter end. That ended with the bomb. We agree on Stalin. Yes, the nature of all ordered societies is to eventually result into nationalist states....there's a lot to say about that in the modern sense but on Japan 45 I would say that the very nature of the culture meant it would keep to terms as hierarchy was at its very core. Very few would have attacked GIs if the Emperor told them the war was over and what they must do. Indeed, he gave that very same message....it didn't matter whether it was conditional or unconditional. The terms were the important aspect. I acknowledge that my position is the minority one, but I regard that due to cultural conditioning and the fact that it happened to them and not us. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Mar 2024 2.47pm)

There’s no culture around today that thinks like that, is there?

I see a 12 year old boy dying of starvation with his mother watching over him, it's distressing beyond belief. This is North Gaza, 2 miles away, the aircraft carrier fleet of the richest most powerful country in the world lies idle. Belatedly, in shame you would think, in a genocide they both financed and militarily contributed to. they airdrop 'ready meals' which could never be enough and may not even be digestible to the starving. A young USA reporter tries to tackle Joe Biden. Does he know this is happening and aren't we responsible? He walks on, his entourage hustle her away. Hoe does Netanyahu continue to walk all over the United States, giving absolutely nothing in return for support without which Israel could not be doing this? He is laughing at the world, pursuing only his agenda which has always been to ethnically cleanse Palestine.

I don't like Balfour either but this is absolutely outrageous. A man gets two years for putting stickers up....Let's see what happens for this destructive vandalism....god knows what the cost of that was. [Tweet Link]
